WHAT IS THE POSITION

The Senior Director of Teaching and Instruction plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the operational and instructional excellence of Edmentum’s full-time virtual teaching team. Reporting directly to the SVP, Schools and Academic Services, this role is responsible for the successful implementation of teaching programs, educator effectiveness, instructional leadership, and operational consistency across all virtual instructional services.

This individual leads a team of managers who directly supervise virtual teachers and works collaboratively across cross-functional teams to ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable instruction that meets or exceeds student outcomes and customer expectations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop a team of Managers of Teaching and Instruction to ensure consistent instructional oversight and coaching of full-time virtual teachers.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of instructional excellence, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development to support leader growth and educator effectiveness.

Instructional Execution & Operations

  • Monitor, evaluate, and enhance instructional delivery to ensure quality and consistency across virtual teaching programs.
  • Partner with instructional design, assessment, and customer success teams to align curriculum, pacing, and support models.
  • Ensure implementation of educator supervision and evaluation processes aligned with state certification, student performance, and instructional quality.
  • Manage staffing models and budget allocations across both full-time and part-time educator populations to optimize instructional delivery and cost-effectiveness.

Strategic Program Leadership

  • Support the development and implementation of initiatives that enhance teacher effectiveness, including new hire onboarding, instructional tools, and targeted coaching plans.
  • Use student performance data, engagement metrics, and evaluation systems to identify instructional trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to inform strategic decisions related to staffing, scheduling, and program growth.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary instructional operations leader in cross-functional planning efforts.
  • Represent Instructional Services in strategic conversations related to service delivery, quality assurance, and instructional success.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure all instructional practices align with Edmentum policies, compliance standards, and best practices in virtual education.
  • Monitor effectiveness of virtual instruction models and lead continuous improvement efforts.

  • Oversee coaching and development efforts across multiple teams in alignment with business objectives.
  • Champion innovation opportunities and foster a culture of breakthrough thinking.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree: MBA, Education Leadership, or a related field with focus on advanced studies in business strategy, leadership, and educational management required.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in instructional or educational leadership roles.
  • Proven experience managing managers and leading distributed instructional teams.
  • Deep understanding of virtual instruction, instructional quality frameworks, and online learning best practices.
  • General understanding of federal and state laws regulating K-12 education and virtual school operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, coach others, and drive organizational change
  • Knowledge of trends and innovations in virtual schooling, including instructional models, student engagement practices, and regulatory developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and balance budgets related to instructional personnel, including full-time and part-time educators.
  • Ability to interpret data to inform instructional decision-making.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams including finance, marketing, and instructional services.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and alignment with Edmentum’s mission and values
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

Pay range for this role:
$160,000$200,000 USD

At Edmentum, we are committed to pay transparency. The salary range provided reflects market research, the responsibilities of the role, and alignment with our compensation principles. Actual compensation will be determined based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill sets. All compensation decisions are individualized and based on the specific circumstances of each candidate.
