Sanofi Specialty Care North America (SPC NA) is developing and commercializing a groundbreaking portfolio of advanced medicines for rare and immune-mediated diseases over the next decade.  To this end, the Strategy and Operations office is growing with the objective of accelerating transformational initiatives and operational excellence.  
 
As Senior Director of Strategy and Operations, you will drive and optimize key initiatives, scale and implement new process, and coordinate operations within and across business units.  
 
This role is full time and located in Cambridge (CX).

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Planning 

  • Develop annual objectives for SPC NA that align with corporate and business unit strategic priorities 

  • Translate high-level strategic frameworks into actionable operational plans, ensuring both top-down direction and bottom-up implementation 

  • Lead the brand planning processes, including budget development and resource allocation recommendations; design/implement new processes.  

  • Coordinate quarterly business reviews to assess performance and adjust priorities as needed. 

Strategic initiative development 

  • Collaborate with leadership and other functions to distill the strategy and business case of new solution/programs 

  • Lead or seed teams to develop these concepts  

  • Establish project management frameworks and reporting cadences to ensure visibility and accountability for portfolio of projects 

  • Partner across marketing, medical affairs, digital, AI, and therapeutic area teams among others 

  • Manage vendors and other external stakeholders 

  • Bring "builder" mentality—conceptualizing strategy while driving tactical implementation 

 

Data and Product-Driven Business Transformation 

  • Advance data, AI, and digital capabilities in partnership with technical teams—defining high-value use cases and prioritizing roadmap initiatives that drive measurable business impact 

  • Collaborate with functional units to develop and coordinate roadmap development in alignment with annual and medium-term strategic objectives 

  • Lead business process transformation to embed data-driven decision-making and modern commercial approaches across the organization 

 

About You 

  • 15-20 years of experience in strategy consulting or business leadership within healthcare, pharma or life sciences 

  • Bachelors level degree

  • Proven track record of experience with product development frameworks and software in digital health 

  • Exceptional analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills 

  • Comfortable “rolling up sleeves” to drive results; ideally have start-up or VC experience 

  • Experience managing consulting partners and projects (e.g. McKinsey, BCG) a strong plus 

  • Experience new ventures including data, AI, digital and new care delivery business models 

  • Experience with business as usual operational excellence and management 

  • Proven success leading cross-functional strategic programs and operational initiatives from concept through implementation 

  • Strong experience with portfolio strategy, decision analysis frameworks, and stage-gate/phase-gate processes 

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and run operational frameworks (OKRs, portfolio reviews, business planning cycles) 

  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills; comfortable presenting to and influencing senior leadership 

Strongly Preferred:

  • Masters degree

  • Experience at the intersection of biopharma and digital health, particularly with Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) or health technology

  • Track record working with FDA submissions, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems (QMS) 

  • Background balancing agile software development with regulatory and quality requirements 

  • Startup, scale-up, or venture-backed company experience demonstrating entrepreneurial mindset 

  • Experience managing consulting partners and large strategic projects (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, etc.) 

  • Expertise in decentralized clinical trials, patient-generated data, or novel evidence generation approaches 

  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in healthcare or experience driving data-driven business transformation

The salary range for this position is:

$206,250.00 - $297,916.66
