Summary  

Own GeneDx’s long-range plan: collaborate with executive leadership to quantify our aspirations, identify what we need to reach them, understand our current trajectory, and develop our go-forward options. Stand up and oversee finance business partner for critical growth areas. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with GeneDx’s executive leadership team to build and maintain a rolling 5-year model (income, balance sheet, cash flow) by business area, harmonizing outputs across the Finance organization for input into yearly planning cycles (you will own the economics and story, Accounting owns the ledger) 
  • Develop the operating mechanisms to track GeneDx’s trajectory against that plan and realize its execution: internal performance, external threats and other risks, investments required 
  • Establish and lead an investment evaluation cadence across all growth levers (inclusive of CapEx, OpEx, pricing and discounts, M&A and other partnerships, etc.) ensuring well-structured and quantitative assessments 
  • Strengthen our understanding of new and existing markets: size, competitor economics, product fit, etc., collaborating with Commercial, Product and Market Intelligence functions 
  • Support strategic decision making across near- and long-term timescales with well-structured problem statements, issue trees and sound analyses 
  • Develop screening theses and quick-turn valuations for potential acquisitions and other corporate development activity; track value realization post-close 
  • Stand up dedicated finance business partner support for our Data business and other key growth business areas 
  • Produce board-ready reporting and narratives for both regular reporting and key decisions 

People Manager

  • 1-3 finance business partners (approximately senior manager level, to be hired; see separate Finance Business Partner job description) 

Education, Experience, and Skills 

  • 10+ years across Strategic Finance / Corp Dev / management consulting (diagnostics / payer/ provider experience a plus) 
  • Track record building LRPs, running investment discipline, and producing board-grade materials; comfort challenging senior operators 
  • Strong financial modeling inclusive of both ad hoc analysis and 3-statement models 
  • Working fluency with SQL/warehouse systems a plus 

 Physical Demands 

  • Position is remote; demands typical of remote office work 

Work Environment  

  • The role is primarily remote but may require occasional travel to GeneDx sites (primarily Gaithersburg, NYC)

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
  • Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
