About This Role:
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Senior Director, Statistical Methodologist to play a pivotal role in advancing innovative statistical methodologies within Research and Development. In this position, you will drive statistical innovation, ensuring methodological rigor and enhanced decision making across diverse projects. Your expertise in cutting-edge design and analysis techniques—including adaptive design, Bayesian methods, AI/ML applications, causal inference, and advanced multiple testing approaches—will be instrumental in optimizing drug development outcomes. Reporting directly to the Vice President and Head of Biostatistics, RWDA, and Epidemiology, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor statisticians and epidemiologists, and represent our organization in key cross-industry initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on drug development and shape the future of a data-and-analytics-driven culture in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the development and application of innovative statistical methodologies to enhance research efficiency and decision-making.
  • Provide strategic direction and support to internal scientific working groups dedicated to key methods innovation areas.
  • Collaborate with program team statisticians to apply adaptive designs and other innovative design methodologies to optimize study efficiency and outcomes.
  • Contribute to AI/ML strategy within R&D and drive statistically sound applications to achieve drug development goals.
  • Develop and apply advanced multiple testing approaches to ensure robust inference and support product labeling.
  • Utilize causal inference techniques to enable evidence generation from a variety of data sources.
  • Mentor and guide a team of statisticians and epidemiologists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Communicate complex statistical concepts and methodologies effectively to internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in cross-industry initiatives and collaborations, influencing statistical practices and methodologies externally.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.
  • Extensive experience in statistical methodology development and application within research or industry settings.
  • Proven track record of leading innovative projects and driving methodological advancements.
  • Expertise in adaptive designs, Bayesian and frequentist methods, statistical modeling, multiple testing, AI/ML, and causal inference.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience engaging and influencing external stakeholders, including regulators and HTA/payers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience representing an organization in cross-industry initiatives or collaborations.
  • Familiarity with hybrid designs, Bayesian extrapolation, and probability of technical success calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop statistical teams.

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $230,000-$316,000. Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
