Objective / Purpose:
The R&D Investor Relations Lead is responsible for gathering, communicating and promoting the R&D strategy and pipeline progress to external stakeholders, analysts and investors, through quarterly earnings, representation and presentations at scientific /medical conferences, and investor meetings. This person is part of R&D Investor Relations Team within the Office of the R&D Chief of Staff and will work closely with the R&D Management Committee, Corporate IR team and Corporate Communications team to implement and manage the R&D strategic investor plan, including and not limited to Q&A documents, messaging and other relevant materials to support public disclosures. The R&D Investor Relations Lead will also assure that senior management is kept up to date on investor sentiment and support the development of strategic plans to build confidence in the R&D pipeline.
Accountabilities:
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of a proactive R&D investor relations strategy and program to build the company's shareholder base and confidence in our pipeline
  • Support the development of key R&D pipeline communication materials in collaboration with senior leadership and program teams in preparation of analyst events, presentations, road shows, earnings releases and other announcements to support public disclosures
  • Support and drive the development of a compelling R&D IR narrative for both external as well as internal stakeholders through different channels, including digital and social
  • Assist in drafting, editing and proofing R&D information contained in securities documents, including 20-F and other financial documents
  • Partner with program teams and other departments like the PRC office to keep abreast of all pipeline projects and stage-ups, ensuring relevant information is shared in a timely and accurate manner internally across all stakeholder groups.
  • Support internal and external R&D strategy/pipeline communication projects in collaboration with communication teams, finance, and other R&D functions.
  • Maintain and ensure data integrity for all IR material - Q&A documents, pipeline table, clinical trial design and approval and submission forecasts.
  • Train and brief internal stakeholders on the IR programs and processes.
  • Support and project manage key R&D analyst / investor events, such as R&D Days, partnering with Corporate IR team, Communications and R&D management in the development of the material and structure of the event(s).
  • Proactively track and monitor external IR events which can influence decisions or impact our portfolio.
  • Support Takeda R&D at scientific /medical / pharmaceutical conferences relating to investor activities and be proficient at communicating the R&D strategy and key programs
  • Support and manage R&D in relation to S/ESG topics for external disclosure and benchmarking programs
  • Represent Takeda R&D in meetings with analysts and investors and at investor conference speaking
  • Establish and maintain excellent relations with institutional investors

Education & Competencies:
  • Advanced degree in sciences or medicine: PhD /MD preferred with some consultancy/business background
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working for a pharmaceutical/biotech company including experience in investor and/or public relations, corporate strategy, equity research, investment banking, finance, R&D or corporate communications
  • Has strong leadership skills and acumen. Structured thinker, strong communicator. Ability to influence across a range of functions.
  • Well organized and strong attention to detail

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Travel to other Takeda offices in Boston and Tokyo is possible, with additional travel to domestic and international cities with concentrations of institutional investors, such as New York, San Francisco, London, etc.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$208,200.00 - $327,140.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
