About the Position
We’re seeking a strategic, execution-driven Senior Director of Product to lead high-impact initiatives across both Product Operations and Product Management, with a focus on customer-facing, AI-enabled tools and platforms. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you will lead cross-functional work that enables product teams to deliver exceptional, intelligent experiences to customers. This role does not involve direct people management, but rather, ownership of the work, systems, and processes that drive product success.

You’ll work at the intersection of AI, customer experience, and product delivery — improving how the organization operates, builds, and scales ML-powered features within customer-facing solutions. You will be instrumental in translating strategic goals into operational systems, product insights, and actionable roadmaps.

What You’ll Do

Product Operations Leadership

  • Build and evolve operational frameworks that support the delivery of AI-powered customer-facing tools.
  • Define and improve tooling, workflows, and reporting systems that promote transparency, velocity, and alignment across product, engineering, design, and business teams.
  • Drive adoption of scalable processes such as strategic prioritization, cross-functional planning, and goal-setting using OKRs.
  • Monitor key product and operational metrics, including customer usage, satisfaction, and ML model performance.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks in the product development lifecycle, especially those related to AI model training, iteration, and user feedback integration.

Product Management Leadership

  • Partner with the CPO and product managers to shape the roadmap for customer-facing products that leverage AI and ML technologies.
  • Support the definition, prioritization, and delivery of features that directly impact end users—enhancing usability, personalization, and value.
  • Translate customer insights and behavior data into actionable product opportunities and product development strategies.
  • Ensure AI/ML solutions are embedded thoughtfully and responsibly into customer-facing interfaces and workflows.
  • Help teams define product success metrics, evaluate experiments, and iterate quickly on customer feedback and performance data.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Influence

  • Serve as a thought partner across product, data science, engineering, and GTM (go-to-market) teams, helping align strategic initiatives and execution.
  • Facilitate collaboration between technical teams and customer stakeholders, ensuring products are both technically sound and user-focused.
  • Act as a connector across teams to bring clarity, structure, and prioritization to complex product challenges.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, ethical AI use, and data-informed iteration across the product organization.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience spanning product management, product operations, or strategy, including work in fast-paced startup environments where ambiguity and rapid iteration are common.
  • Proven success delivering customer-facing products powered by AI and Machine Learning technologies, with a strong track record of translating complex technical capabilities into intuitive user experiences.
  • Deep familiarity with the end-to-end AI/ML product lifecycle, including data sourcing, model development, training, deployment, and continuous optimization.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry (e.g., health plans, payers, digital health, or point solutions), with a clear understanding of regulatory, compliance, and data privacy considerations.
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for the digital health space, staying current on emerging technologies and market trends.
  • Strong understanding of customer engagement workflows, feedback loops, and user experience principles in software and digital tools.
  • Experience building and scaling product operations systems in startup or high-growth environments, including designing processes, implementing tools, and establishing metrics to measure performance and drive accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional workstreams effectively without formal people management authority, influencing stakeholders across engineering, design, data science, compliance, and commercial teams.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
