Make Your Mark:
The Senior Director of PreSales for North America is a player-coach executive leader responsible for scaling a team of ~20 presales consultants across our North America Region. You'll set the direction for how presales shows up in the market: as strategic partners to Sales, trusted advisors to the C-Suite, and a driver of ACV growth.
This role is about building credibility everywhere you show up with customers, with Sales leadership, with partners, and with our own teams. You'll balance hands-on field leadership with shaping how BlackLine presales evolves: from tactical demos to a value-selling, AI-enabled organization that influences outcomes and accelerates growth.
You'll Get To:
  • Lead the NorAm presales function (~20 consultants, including a Director of East Region and a West team of ~10) including strategy.
  • Act as a player-coach in top deals, modeling world-class value selling and guiding presales consultants in live opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales RVPs to co-own territory strategy, ensuring presales is trusted with qualification, deal strategy, and influencing ACV.
  • Provide deep BlackLine record-to-report expertise, particularly in Intercompany, Matching, and Journals, addressing gaps in North America and raising the technical bar across the team.
  • Leverage SAP experience (ideally SAP COE background) to expand BlackLine's footprint and position the combined BlackLine + SAP value to enterprise accounts.
  • Anticipate the needs of U.S. customers with global operations, ensuring presales solutions scale across EMEA, APAC, and LATAM.
  • Build a culture of continuous upskilling, transforming presales consultants into value sellers who can own discovery, solution roadmaps, and boardroom-ready business cases.
  • Drive adoption of AI, APIs, and modern tools to streamline presales processes, personalize content, and scale customer impact.
  • Represent BlackLine externally at industry events, with customers, and with partners, strengthening our reputation in the market

What You'll Bring:
  • 10+ years in finance/accounting, corporate accounting, or financial systems management; CPA or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a practitioner with enterprise-grade finance software. BlackLine and SAP experience preferred.
  • Expert-level knowledge across BlackLine's R2R solutions; hands-on depth in Intercompany, Matching, and Journals required.
  • 5+ years of presales leadership, with success scaling high-performing teams across solution consulting, value engineering, and solution architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise software integration, ERP ecosystems, and modern technologies like AI.
  • Track record of developing GTM strategies across multiple segments (MM, ENT, Mega), channels (direct, partner, SOLEX), and international markets.
  • Experience managing strategic alliances, especially ERP vendors, to accelerate joint growth.
  • Executive presence with credibility at the C-Suite level, especially CFOs.
  • 80% travel across North America. To lead presales at this level, you need to be in the field, with Sales, with customers, and with your team.

Salary Range:
USD $192,000.00/Yr. - USD $240,000.00/Yr.
Pay Transparency Statement:
Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant's prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location.
In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring candidates have clear information about compensation expectations. For roles that include variable incentive components such as an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) or On-Target Earnings (OTE), the compensation structure may follow a split model - for example, a 50/50, 70/30, or 60/40 ratio between base salary and variable incentive.
