ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Director, Learning & Development will play a critical role in shaping and executing the learning and development strategy for KalVista. This position will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of training programs to ensure the organization’s workforce is equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to drive the company's growth and success in the pharmaceutical industry. The Senior Director will work closely with HR leadership and cross functional leaders, HRBPs, to align training initiatives with business goals and ensure compliance with industry standards. This role will lead the development of the KalVista Academy curriculum.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with business goals, corporate values, and industry regulations. Partner with senior leaders and HR to assess skill gaps and workforce needs to inform training programs
  • Establish a clear roadmap for talent development that supports long-term organizational objectives
  • Lead Learning & Development as a sole practitioner to execute all elements of design, stakeholder engagement, implementation, and impact assessment
  • Design and launch a scalable Leadership Competency Architecture that aligns with organizational values, enables capability building, and supports long-term talent strategy
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning through coaching, mentoring, and career development planning
  • Leverage diverse delivery methods—including in-person, virtual, and blended learning to meet the diverse needs of the workforce
  • Work closely with department heads to tailor training initiatives that address specific departmental goals, improving overall employee performance, productivity and enables high performing teams
  • Champion an environment of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team to ensure the highest standards of training delivery
  • Define and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of training programs
  • Regularly assess the impact of training on business outcomes, adjusting programs as needed to optimize learning experiences and performance improvements
  • Collect and analyze feedback from training participants, managers, and other stakeholders to continuously enhance training content and delivery
  • Ensure all training programs comply with industry regulations, standards, and best practices, including FDA, GxP, and other applicable regulatory bodies
  • Stay updated with pharmaceutical industry trends, regulations, and innovations to ensure the company’s training programs are current and relevant
  • Communicate training strategies effectively to employees and management, supporting engagement and participation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Life Sciences or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • At least 10 years of experience in training and development within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations, including GxP, FDA, and other relevant standards

  • Proven track record of developing and executing training strategies that drive measurable business results
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and working with senior leadership to drive organizational change
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to mentor and inspire a team
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and learning technologies
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess training effectiveness and make data-driven decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational and time-management skills Strategic thinker with the ability to align learning programs with business objectives.
