This is a hybrid role in our Newton, MA office and requires onsite work 3x a week.
As a Senior Director of IT Portfolio Management, you will serve as a strategic leader within Bright Horizons’ Product Engineering organization. This role is responsible for driving the successful execution of large-scale, cross-functional initiatives using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). You will work closely with Product, Business, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment on priorities, progress tracking, and delivery outcomes—while maintaining a strong focus on budget, cost, and timeline management.
You will lead a team of Scrum Masters and Agile delivery professionals, ensuring consistent execution practices across engineering teams. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational rigor, and servant leadership to foster high-performing agile teams and deliver measurable business value.

What you will be doing:Work with business group leaders and their staff to establish overall portfolio strategy and vision that accelerate Bright Horizons' growth
Lead portfolio management team to conduct strategic analyses on key market, customer, competitive, product and technology trends, and articulate required portfolio actions and investment to meet strategic areas of focus
Lead the execution of complex, cross-functional product development initiatives using SAFe, ensuring alignment with business goals and product strategy.
Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to define and track execution metrics, delivery milestones, and success criteria.
Manage a team of Scrum Masters supporting multiple agile engineering teams; coach and mentor them to drive continuous improvement and agile maturity.
Oversee program increment (PI) planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation across multiple agile release trains (ARTs).
Ensure transparency and communication of progress, risks, and outcomes to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Monitor and manage portfolio-level budgets, resource allocations, and timelines to ensure efficient delivery.
Drive alignment across initiatives by facilitating cross-team collaboration, retrospectives, and action planning.
Champion agile best practices and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous delivery.
Lead the execution of complex, cross-functional product development initiatives using SAFe, ensuring alignment with business goals and product strategy.
Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to define and track execution metrics, delivery milestones, and success criteria.

Leading multiple cross-functional teams charged with developing and launching portfolio projects according to objectives and deadlines
Assessing and managing risks and issues
Ensuring all risks / issues are brought to resolution in a timely and mutually agreeable manner
Identifying and mitigating conflicts across functional areas
Establishing and managing appropriate communication plans throughout the lifecycle of assigned projects/programs
Leading and facilitating retrospectives and action plans
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Technology, or related field
- 15 years of relevant experience
Master's Degree is preferred
10+ years of large-scale project management experience
Proven experience leading agile transformations and delivering complex programs using SAFe or similar frameworks.
Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Lean principles; SAFe certification preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Experience with portfolio-level planning, financial tracking, and resource management.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
