Job DescriptionRole Overview

GE HealthCare’s Chief Data and Analytics team delivers innovative data, insights, and AI solutions for the organization. Our Enterprise AI team works on a diverse portfolio of Machine Learning (ML), AI, and GenAI projects, by combining agile and entrepreneurial drive with industry-leading methods and tools.

Our efforts are fully supported by executive leadership, and we work hand in hand with our Business Partners through all stages of model development from ideation to deployment. As it takes multiple skill sets to deliver AI models to production, our Data and Analytics team includes Data Scientists, Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) Engineers, Program Managers, Integrated Insights Managers, Architects, BI Developers, and Data/Platform Engineers.

As the Senior Director, Head of Data Science, you will be at the forefront of developing and delivering innovative algorithms that generate actionable business insights for key areas within GE HealthCare, including Finance, Commercial, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality, Operational Excellence and Lean, and Manufacturing. In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for creating technology roadmaps in support of AI/ML and GenAI applications, providing technical oversight to a team of data scientists, and communicating insights to business leaders. You will also build and lead a high-performing data science team and collaborate with various departments to set standards for ML model development and deployment.

The leader is also a member of the Enterprise AI Leadership team and the Extended Chief Data Officer's Leadership team. They will collaborate across the team to build and deliver on broad data, AI, and digital organizational capabilities. He/she guides senior leadership and cross-functional executives in relevant issues and represents the department more broadly at the enterprise level.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver innovative algorithms to address key business problems and provide actionable insights across Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, Lean, and Manufacturing.
  • Create and maintain technology roadmaps to support AI/ML and GenAI applications.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to a team of data scientists.
  • Communicate actionable insights derived from data to business leaders across GE HealthCare.
  • Collaborate with the MLOps team to establish standards for ML model development, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Partner with the Forecasting team to develop state-of-the-art ML algorithms for financial, sales, and supply chain forecasting.
  • Lead development of AI-driven commercial, sales, and marketing solutions – including but not limited to:
    • Intelligent customer segmentation and targeting.
    • Dynamic pricing and revenue optimization.
    • Predictive lead scoring and pipeline acceleration.
    • Personalized content and marketing campaign optimization.
    • Customer lifetime value prediction and churn prevention.
    • AI-driven sales performance enablement tools.
  • Proactively measure and communicate value generation from developed algorithms to business and IT leaders across GE HealthCare.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities to further leverage data science solutions – prioritizing opportunities with the biggest potential benefit to the business.
  • Ensure best practice adoption within the data science team, applying appropriate levels of technical capability, standardization, and subject matter expertise.
  • Proactively manage planned and ad-hoc data science requests, ensuring appropriate prioritization, consistent quality, and timeliness in delivery to business stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture of analytics and fact-based decision-making through the utilization of standard methodologies and approaches.
  • Operate as a thought leader and visionary, with the ability to influence executive leaders in the strategic use of ML, AI, GenAI, and advanced analytics in decision-making and value creation.
  • Act as a change agent who effectively communicates the vision and implementation roadmap for new analytical capabilities and who gains buy-in from stakeholders across the organization.
  • Build and nurture a team of high-performing data scientists. Develop a team culture and environment where data scientists thrive, overseeing the development of competency models, career paths, and onboarding and training programs.
  • Collaborate across IT and STO functions to ensure that technology enables ML, AI, GenAI, and advanced analytics capabilities and that data and algorithms are reliable and accurate.
  • Serve as a key member of working groups developing digital platforms, as well as ensuring that data from these platforms can be appropriately utilized for insight generation.
  • Stay abreast of market evolutions and dynamics regarding GE HealthCare’s position in industry and therapeutic areas.
Experience Requirements
  • Proves, extensive experience leading data science teams.
  • Strong healthcare data and analytics experience, including management experience.
  • Excellent team management, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Superior planning, process, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective change management leader for direct reports.
  • Exceptional structured problem-solving and strategic agility abilities.
  • Proficiency in the latest Python, AWS, Azure, and open-source data science tools such as Jupyter, R, SQL, Hadoop, Spark, TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
  • Deep expertise in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Transformers, Self-Supervised Learning, and generative models.
  • Ability to continuously track, evaluate, and adapt the latest advancements in deep learning techniques and AI/ML research to business use cases across GE HealthCare.
  • Deep knowledge of business analytics and associated practices relevant to the healthcare/MedTech/pharmaceutical/biotech industries.
  • Proven experience applying AI/ML to commercial, sales, and marketing domains, such as customer insights, commercial operations optimization, pricing optimization, CRM systems intelligence, sales performance optimization and AI-driven marketing automation.
  • Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding qualitative and quantitative targets and goals.
  • Ability to communicate AI, GenAI, statistical, and technical ideas and results to non-technical clients in written and verbal form, including experience and comfort presenting concepts to senior executives.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Matplotlib.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git and collaborative platforms like GitHub and GitLab.
  • Ability to travel (ad hoc).
