Key Responsibilities

Strategic finance and business partnering

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on strategy, pricing, growth investments and resource allocation.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product and Content leaders to set budgets, track performance and turn financial data into decisions.
  • Lead the annual operating plan, rolling forecasts and long-range financial model.
  • Support fundraising, investor relations and board reporting, including board decks and investor updates.

FP&A and SaaS metrics

  • Own reporting on core SaaS metrics (for ex ARR/MRR, net and gross revenue retention, churn).
  • Build monthly management reporting and variance analysis that explain what moved and why.
  • Model pricing and packaging changes, new products and market expansion.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, runway planning and scenario analysis.

Accounting, controllership, treasury, and equity administration

  • Oversee a timely, accurate month-end and year-end close under US GAAP.
  • Own revenue recognition for subscription and enterprise contracts under ASC 606.
  • Oversee billing, collections, accounts payable, payroll, expense management, and general ledger activities.
  • Oversee management of the annual audit, tax compliance (including sales tax/VAT for international customers) and outside advisors.
  • Maintain banking relationships and ensure compliance with debt covenants.
  • Handle equity administration in partnership with the CEO.

Systems, controls and operations

  • Design scalable processes and internal controls fit for a growing company.
  • Optimize finance systems (ERP, billing, FP&A and spend tools) and their integration with the CRM.
  • Support client and vendor contract review and negotiations related to financial terms.
  • Own insurance and risk management.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Set the finance roadmap and priorities as the company scales.
  • Promote financial literacy and accountability across the organization.

Requirements

What you bring

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including at least 5 years managing finance or accounting teams.
  • 2+ years in a finance or accounting role at a venture-backed or high-growth SaaS startup, ideally through a stage of significant scaling.
  • Deep command of SaaS economics and subscription metrics, and the ability to explain them clearly to non-finance leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition for subscription businesses.
  • Proven business partnering skills: a track record of influencing decisions with executives and department heads, not just reporting results.
  • Hands-on experience building forecasts, operating plans and board-level reporting.
  • A builder's mindset: comfortable rolling up your sleeves on the details while setting long-term direction.
  • Excellent communication, judgment and integrity.
  • Desire to grow and develop as the company scales.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

Nice to have

  • CPA, CMA or MBA.
  • Experience with fundraising, M&A or due diligence processes.
  • Background serving life sciences, biotech, pharma or scientific information customers.
  • Experience with international operations, multi-currency billing and global tax.
  • Familiarity with tools such as QuickBooks, Stripe, Brex, Bill, HubSpot, and modern FP&A platforms.
