Description

Sprout Social is looking to hire a Senior Director, Enterprise Transformation, for the Finance team.

About the Role

Sprout Social is building a critical function to drive execution excellence across our highest-priority company initiatives. We're looking for a hands-on strategic operator to lead our Transformation Team, the execution arm of Sprout's transformation strategy. Reporting to the VP of FP&A, you will translate direction set at the executive level into structured, accountable programs of work that drive strong outcomes for the business.

Sprout is entering a pivotal stage of evolution focused on driving sustainable growth and operational excellence. You'll own the cross-functional coordination, process redesign, and organizational change work that this next chapter of Sprout requires, and you'll do it in a way that builds lasting capability in the teams you work with, not just short-term compliance. This is not a passive PMO role: you will actively resolve complex cross-functional conflicts and drive issues to closure. You'll know when to run the room, when to advise and step back, and when to diagnose a problem and recommend a path.

You'll be a trusted advisor to executive and VP-level leaders, a problem-solver who identifies and removes blockers, and a driver of accountability who knows when to push and when to support. You'll need to be equally comfortable building frameworks from scratch and rolling up your sleeves to get work done.

You'll need to be both strategic and operational from day one: challenging how initiatives are scoped, identifying systemic organizational issues that slow execution, and serving as a thought partner to senior leaders on what should be prioritized and why.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Cross-Functional Program Coordination: Own the connective tissue across select cross-functional, high-impact workstreams — tracking dependencies, surfacing blockers, and making sure the right people are talking to each other.
  • Resolve Cross-Functional Conflict: Own resolution of conflicts and competing priorities across workstreams, bringing a point of view and driving them to closure at your level so that only genuine cross-ELT tradeoffs need to be escalated.
  • Own Financial Interlock & Value Realization: Partner closely with FP&A to run a consistent stage gate rhythm, tracking whether transformation initiatives are translating into real financial outcomes, and surfacing early — with a recommendation, not just a status — when gains aren't materializing.
  • Lead Process & Work Design: Partner with leaders to redesign workflows, decision rights, and structures. Before engaging, establish what work needs to be done, what it requires, a realistic timeline, and who's best positioned to lead it (the directly responsible owner always sits outside this team).
  • Drive Change Leadership & Communication: Help leaders develop and deliver honest, grounded communication about what's changing and why, including the harder messages — with an enablement focus so teams build the skills to work differently on their own.
  • Manage Risk & Decision-Making: Build the structures that ensure risks are identified, communicated, and escalated at the right level — and only the right level.
  • Enable the Right Representation: Use cross-functional knowledge to ensure the right people are represented in decisions, maintaining clear structures for who needs to know versus who has a say.
  • Advise on Ways of Working: Help teams design meeting rhythms, decision-making norms, and coordination structures that fit a leaner org, facilitating new habits while the accountable team builds the muscle.
  • Build Sustainable Capability: Document what works, build shared language and frameworks, and actively transfer capability back to the teams you work with, so this function's energy stays focused on what's newest and hardest.

What You’ll Bring

You bring experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution, with the judgment to influence priorities, shape scope, and push back when needed. You’ve built scalable programs and operating rhythms in ambiguous environments and know how to adapt frameworks to the business context. You pair strong analytical and business acumen with executive presence, using data to drive decisions and partnering effectively with senior leaders to improve how the organization executes as it scales.

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

  • 12+ years of professional experience with a deep understanding of transformation strategy, operational efficiency, and financial performance.
  • 7+ years of experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives within global, matrix-based environments.
  • Experience tracking financial impact and cost-to-achieve metrics.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make fact-based decisions even in the absence of complete information.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from individual contributors to the Executive Leadership Team

Preferred qualifications for this role include:

  • Direct experience in the B2B SaaS or high-growth technology space
  • Experience supporting executive leadership or board-level strategic planning
  • Advanced proficiency with best-in-class project management and tracking tools such as Jira, Monday.com, or Atlassian products.

How you’ll grow

  • Complete Sprout Social’s new hire training & onboarding program alongside other new Sprout team members. You’ll gain a broader understanding of our products and how your role fits into the organization.
  • Partner with your manager to align on early priorities, define success in the role, establish career growth goals, and build a strong understanding of Sprout’s transformation strategy and operating model.
  • Build strong partnerships with leaders across Finance, Sales, Marketing, Product, and CX to understand current transformation priorities, operating rhythms, and business goals.
  • Develop a working understanding of Sprout’s strategic initiatives, governance structures, and financial performance metrics, including EBITDA impact and cost-to-achieve tracking.
  • Assess the current program portfolio, identify key risks and dependencies, and align with executive stakeholders on immediate priorities and success measures for the function.

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Establish a consistent governance cadence, including steering committee meetings and finance stage gate reviews, creating clear accountability and visibility into workstream health and value realization.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive and VP-level stakeholders and become a partner in driving alignment, prioritization, and decision-making across complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, portfolio management, and cross-functional collaboration, implementing scalable processes and reporting mechanisms.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Drive multiple transformation initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring alignment to financial goals, timelines, and organizational priorities.
  • Partner closely with Finance and FP&A to improve financial tracking rigor, helping ensure efficiency gains are measurable and show up in business performance, not just the tracker.
  • Demonstrate a track record of resolving cross-functional conflicts directly, with escalations to the Executive Leadership Team as the exception rather than the norm.
  • Demonstrate that changes driven by your workstreams are holding 60–90 days post-implementation rather than being relitigated, and begin transferring capability back to the teams you've worked with.

Within 12 months, you will:

  • Be recognized as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing enterprise-wide prioritization, operational strategy, and transformation execution across the business.
  • Build a more scalable, proactive transformation function — one where the leaders you work with feel more equipped, not more dependent.
  • Help define the next phase of the function by identifying where dedicated program management capability is still needed as the org matures.
  • Surprise us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to change your team in beneficial ways that we haven't even considered yet.

Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs, and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.

We’re proud to regularly be recognized for our team, product, and culture. We invest in our team with a comprehensive, competitive benefits program:

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
