JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Corporate Development leads the company's mergers and acquisitions (M&A) operations that include execution of strategy, research, and identification and execution of transactions that align with the company's growth objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in M&A with the ability to source deals, build a pipeline, perform market research, and oversee all aspects of M&A transactions as well as integration to ensure seamless transition. The Senior Director of Corporate Development reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Essential Functions:
Execute the M&A strategy that meets the firm’s strategic goals and conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform the M&A strategy.
Lead the firm’s M&A function from sourcing through integration.
Research and identify the firm’s potential targets while establishing and maintaining a pipeline of targets that meets the M&A strategy and enhances the company's market position.
Serve as the main point of contact for M&A transactions with third parties and lead negotiations with targets.
Lead the overall business case for internal transaction approval.
Oversee the comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial, operational, and legal assessments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead the transaction through initial analysis, to deal execution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge, background and experience in professional services / CPA industry.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to complete detailed tasks while also thinking strategically.
Experience in sourcing M&A transactions, domestic and international, maintaining a pipeline and developing strategies.
Experience in corporate finance and ability to develop M&A valuation models.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to drive continuous improvement.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
Education, Work Experience, and Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in M&A / corporate development.
Proven experience leading M&A activities from sourcing and building a pipeline through integration.
Proven experience in a leadership role within professional services or cybersecurity.
