We’re looking for a strategic, growth-driven Senior Director of Content and Communications to define and scale how Level Access tells its story and help us lead the conversation in this space. With the ultimate goal of driving demand, building pipeline, and fueling revenue! This role leads the full marketing communications strategy — including messaging, content, PR, thought leadership, and social, with a focus on delivering measurable business impact. You’ll own the development of a unified messaging and positioning framework that powers campaigns, enables sales, and strengthens our brand in the market. This role will also shape how we show up as a trusted partner and industry leader, using thought leadership and storytelling to build credibility and preference.

This role will lead and grow a high-performing team responsible for crafting content that converts across web, campaigns, brand moments, and sales enablement! This is a role for a content and comms leader who knows how to use story to drive action, build lasting brand trust, and support scalable growth.

Responsibilities

Messaging & Positioning

  • Lead the development of a unified messaging and positioning framework that differentiates Level Access in the market
  • Partner with external agencies and internal team members (executive, product, sales) to define and socialize messaging across channels
  • Ensure consistent application of messaging across web, campaigns, sales materials, and public communications

Content Strategy & Team Leadership

  • Define and implement the overall marketing communications strategy across content, PR, thought leadership, and social
  • Lead and mentor a growing team of content strategists, writers, and editors, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development
  • Champion a collaborative, mission-driven team culture rooted in clarity, creativity, and accountability
  • Bring the team along the strategic journey — motivating through change, clearly communicating direction, and encouraging experimentation and ownership
  • Manage internal and external content resources, including agencies, freelancers, and PR partners
  • Ensure all content reflects our brand tone, meets accessibility standards, and aligns with performance goals
  • Balance brand with lead generation strategy. Ensuring specific targeted messaging for new business and customer segments.

Corporate Communications, PR & Social

  • Own brand voice, and messaging hierarchy
  • Manage external PR agency to deliver proactive media outreach, thought leadership, and earned coverage
  • Lead social media strategy and execution, ensuring channel-specific content that engages key audiences
  • Support crisis communications and reputation management in partnership with the CMO and executive leadership
  • Ensure all communications and content are strategically aligned, creating a consistent thread that ties everything back to the core strategy.

Cross-functional Influence

  • Collaborate closely with leaders across Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and People to ensure unified storytelling across the buyer and customer journey
  • Act as an essential communications partner to executives, supporting key initiatives, internal messaging, and leadership visibility
  • Align closely with Demand Gen and Web teams to ensure content strategy maps to pipeline goals and business impact

Measurement & Optimization

  • Define content and communications critical metrics across channels, including awareness, engagement, and conversion
  • Build reporting structures that provide access to performance and surface actionable insights
  • Optimize content plans based on performance data, SEO/GEO trends, audience needs, and business priorities
What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months
  • Deliver a new, unified messaging and positioning framework that’s embraced across marketing, sales, and executive channels
  • Launch a cohesive content plan that supports pipeline goals and elevates brand narrative across web, campaigns, and social
  • Build a high-performing content and comms team, with clear roles, development plans, and collaboration practices
  • Increase media coverage, brand visibility, and thought leadership presence through PR and executive comms
  • Implement content and comms metrics dashboards that guide strategy and drive continuous improvement
Experience & Qualifications
  • 10+ years in marketing communications, content strategy, or brand leadership roles, ideally in B2B SaaS or a high-growth tech environment
  • Experience owning and evolving a full marketing communications strategy, with strong cross-functional alignment
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling content teams — including mentoring, performance management, and org design
  • Skilled at bringing a team on the journey, aligning them to evolving priorities, encouraging action, and communicating with clarity
  • Proven success developing and rolling out messaging and positioning frameworks that influence company-wide storytelling
  • Deep background in corporate communications, executive messaging, PR strategy, and social media
  • Data-driven with experience setting and optimizing content and comms performance metrics
  • Comfortable operating in a matrixed environment and influencing senior stakeholders across departments
  • Strong editorial instincts and creative judgment, with a passion for impactful, inclusive storytelling

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
