Job Description:

The Sr. Director of Campus Business Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for essential campus service operations including, Contract Management, Dining Services, Campus Bookstore, Mail and Document Services, Vending Services, Shipping and Receiving, Campus Office Equipment Management and other auxiliary enterprises.
This role ensures high-quality, cost-effective, and student- and campus-focused services that support the institution’s mission and enhance the campus experience. The Senior Director collaborates with internal stakeholders and external vendors to align services with institutional goals, manage contracts, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for campus services to enhance service quality, efficiency, and student and campus satisfaction.

  • Oversee vendor partnerships and contracts for dining, bookstore, mail, and copy services and potentially others within the domain of administration and finance.

  • Ensures vendor performance and monitors established KPIs

  • Manage budgets and ensure financial sustainability of auxiliary operations.

  • Coordinate with campus departments to ensure services support academic and community needs.

  • Lead initiatives to modernize and innovate service delivery in alignment with campus priorities.

  • Oversees the contract management process, including conducting a thorough business review of all Third-Party Contracts, Real Estate Lease Agreements, Visitor Agreements, Short Term Visitor Agreements

  • Responsible for management of all outsourced auxiliary services agreements (i.e., Mail, Copying, Laundry, Vending, Bookstore, etc.) and works closely with business partners to ensure needs of the Berklee community are being met.

  • Develop and implement short and long-term operational efficiencies and procurement strategies designed to reduce costs and to improve quality and service, while meeting Berklee-wide goals and objectives. 

  • Serve as a liaison for Berklee to outside procurement groups and consortia identifying areas for collaboration, cost savings, and increased efficiency.

  • As part of a team, participates in vendor negotiation procedures including the RFQ, RFP and RFI business processes to secure best price and service for equipment, supplies and services used by the personnel of the College.
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).

  • 8 + years of progressive leadership experience in auxiliary or campus services preferred.

  • Demonstrated supplier and employee management experience with ability to organize and coordinate a multitude of various service operations. Demonstrated leadership skills to motivate representatives to implement necessary projects and products

  • Strong financial, contract management, and vendor relations skills.

  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

  • Knowledge of and experience in higher education, standard business practices and ethics, facilities planning and renovation practices, purchasing practices and procedures, mail processing technologies and procedures, facilities planning practices, special event management, document processing technologies, retail and customer service standards.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with and direct employees, consultants, suppliers, and College personnel at all levels.

  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities, and to set priorities collaboratively.

  • Must have the ability to relate well to and function highly among faculty, staff, students, and external entities, and must have excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
