The Senior Director of Business Services leads strategic vision and operational success in workforce development programs, overseeing client and employer partnerships to expand services and ensure financial sustainability.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director of Business Services is a critical leadership role responsible for defining and driving the strategic vision, growth, and operational success across a portfolio of key workforce development programs and employer partnerships with the goal of increasing internal and external visibility of programs.
Under the leadership of the Senior Vice President of Employer Engagement, the Senior Director builds relationships with and engages Boston-area partners in sustainable workforce development programs generating fee-for-service revenue streams and overseeing grant funded programming. The Senior Director’s responsibilities include assessing the workforce needs of employers and clients and to provide the education and training programs that will allow clients to successfully advance their careers.
The Senior Director is an active part of a larger JVS leadership team, all of whom are supporting the education, training, and employment needs of clients and employers. The director is also accountable for expanding the scope of services JVS offers and achieving superior programmatic and financial outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Strategy, Vision, and Growth
With SVP, define the multi-year strategic vision and roadmap for the Business Services portfolio, ensuring programs meet the evolving workforce needs of employers and clients.
Generate strategic solutions in response to unforeseen circumstances and planned changes, setbacks, and challenges.
Grow and expand the scope and impact of program services by developing new products and services based on partner and client feedback.
Develop, contribute to, and oversee the development of major grant and employer proposals, contract budgets, and budget modifications to secure program funding and sustainability.
Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS both internally and outside the agency.
Executive Program & Operational Governance
Provide leadership and oversight to ensure the successful, full, and timely implementation of all contracts.
Govern multiple employer-based ESOL and Digital Literacy programs and the key functions managed by the Senior Managers/Managers in Business Services & Hyde Park, ensuring seamless delivery, standardized processes, and alignment with contracted services.
Analyze, evaluate, and report on program progress, successes, and challenges to JVS leadership, funders, evaluators, and other stakeholders.
Accountability for Fiscal Management: Closely monitor revenue and control budgetary expenses, taking necessary remedial action to ensure the fiscal health of the program portfolio.
Work with finance team and employer partners to ensure timely invoicing on contracts.
Leadership, Team Development, and Stakeholder Relations
Hire, train, and supervise program leadership staff (including Program Managers and Senior Managers), modeling expected behaviors for JVS staff and clients.
Lead the JVS leadership team in the Business Services area, providing direction in resolving issues in a professional and productive manner.
Provide all supervisees with timely performance reviews and an annual written evaluation intended to grow their skills and careers.
Cultivate, strengthen, and act as the primary contact for high-level relationships with key stakeholders (employers, partner organizations, funders).
Lead program planning meetings and team-based projects and provide additional support when needed during times of growth.
Drive cross-departmental collaboration to build and implement processes to ensure agency performance goals are met.
Assist other JVS departments when needed, especially around sharing instructors across divisions.
Create a work environment where all staff and clients feel heard, can express ideas, learn, solve problems, and succeed.
Perform other duties as requested.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Adult Education, or Business Mgmt.
EXPERIENCE:
· Minimum 5+ years of program leadership experience
· 5+ years of contract/program management, including demonstrated experience in strategic program planning and programmatic vision.
· 5+ years of supervisory experience, including experience managing staff at the Program Manager or Senior Manager level.
· 5+ years' experience in adult education, particularly English for Speakers of Other Languages.
· Adept and comfortable with computer and language assessments.
· Proven experience in grant proposal writing and preparation of budgets.
· Ability to generate strategy and solutions in response to unforeseen challenges.
SKILLS:
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are a must.
· Demonstrated effective presentation and facilitation skills.
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce experience with bonuses.
· Ability to work effectively with staff and clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular local travel, evening hours and weekend availability required. This position is a hybrid with 1-2 days in the office per week, depending on external demands of partnerships.
