The Senior Director of Blue Cross and Blue Shield Strategic Account Services is responsible for creating and delivering a strategic customer growth vision that drives long-term value for customers and transformational opportunities for the company. This role involves managing a group of account teams overseeing health plan payers with significant annual contract value (ACV). The Senior Director will lead by example, instilling a growth mindset and best practices across the business.

Key responsibilities include providing strategic thinking and thought leadership to inspire innovation and transformation, supporting teams in developing compelling value propositions, and offering competitive market insights. The role requires collaboration with various departments to drive sustainable growth and align with customers' business strategies on digital transformation.

Qualifications for this position include extensive experience in managing large Blue Cross and Blue Shield Health Payers, strong people leadership skills, a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, and excellent communication and presentation abilities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in strategy implementation, financial acumen, and the ability to lead through change and ambiguity. To be qualified for this position you:

  • 10 years’ experience in managing large (1MM member) health payers.
  • 3+ years in a people leadership role.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield landscape of health plans and inter-plan operations.
  • BA or BS in any field plus relevant job-related experience, MBA preferred or equivalent business experience with demonstrated results.
  • Have led strategy to implementation and have a proven ability to define a clear vision and roadmap that is challenging, but achievable and motivating to our clients and associates.
  • Possess strong communication and excellent presentation skills.
  • Understand financial acumen to drive profitable growth.
  • Ability to build trust and approach problems from a curious, ready-to-learn perspective.
  • Proven track record in strong change management with the ability to lead a team effectively through ambiguity.
  • Work creatively and analytically in a time-limited, problem-solving environment.
  • Demonstrate love for technology and keeping up with the rapid advances.
  • Have a High Say / Do ratio.
  • Believe in integrity and ethics.

You will be:

  • Working with account teams to build compelling vision statements, value-driven strategies, and position Availity as a differentiator
  • Collaborating with accounts and working closely across the company to infuse the mentality of leaning in, new skill sets, and thought leadership to help solve the customer’s need
  • Championing a human-centered, entrepreneurial approach to strategic enterprise transformation within our account teams customers, and partners
  • Anticipating the key decisions and change management needed to make progress, craft governance frameworks, and create the organizational alignment and momentum towards a vision
  • Maintaining a high-level understanding of platform capabilities to advise and inspire teams and customers
  • Continually monitoring and sharing emergent, disruptive trends in technology and business transformation
  • Seeking out and acting on feedback from clients
  • Creating dashboards per client on utilization, penetration of products, pursuit plans, and win strategies
  • Serving as a role model and a developer of people to continue to grow at Availity
  • Driving revenue and costs forecasts for your line of business
  • Synthesizing insights from account teams, driving thought leadership, and developing recommended actions that will directly impact the growth of our company
