The Senior Director of Advisor Consulting is a key member of the Advisor Consulting & Development program for the intermediary distribution channel at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. The mission of the program is to be a valued partner bringing education, insights, and resources to financial advisors to better serve their clients and strengthen and grow their practices. Through this program we work directly with financial advisors, collaborate with home offices of wealth management firms, and partner with sales to deepen their client relationships.
In this role, you will leverage your financial planning experience to help shape the focus areas and content of the program, assist in identifying themes, and create, promote and deliver content through various marketing and sales channels. You will collaborate with stakeholders in Sales, National Accounts, Marketing and other areas as you develop ideas and content. You will be a thought leader within Columbia Threadneedle, acting as a subject matter expert on financial planning topics that help advisors grow their practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify trends impacting financial advisors’ practices, including a wide variety of financial wellness and planning topics such as retirement, equity compensation, legal and regulatory and other business management practices.

  • Help to assess and evolve strategic focus areas for the Advisor Consulting & Development program, with an eye on what is critical today and what will be relevant over the long term.

  • Work with external vendors and consultants to provide subject matter expertise; and manage business and contractual relationship with external parties.

  • Deliver presentations, keynote addresses, workshops and 1x1 consulting with financial advisors.

  • Collaborate with sales partners to align on the go-to-market strategy for specific topics and content

  • Create and promote related content and messaging as well as training associates on delivery of content to financial advisors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and industry credentials (ex CFP, CIMA, CPWA) preferred

  • 10-15 years financial services experience, ideally within asset or wealth management industry working directly with advisors or clients

  • Experience working with financial planning topics that could include retirement, workplace wealth, equity compensation, small business owners

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Ability to write thought leadership pieces and collaborate with marketing to create presentations

  • Travel required, though varied, could be 25% of time

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $195,000- $205,000 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
