SailPoint is the leader in identity management and delivers an innovative approach to securing access across the enterprise with the SailPoint Predictive Identity platform. With SailPoint, enterprises can ensure that everyone and everything has the exact access they need, exactly when they need it, intuitively and automatically. As a member of the Developer Relations Team, you will be playing an essential part in ensuring that our developer community is successful throughout their journey, as well as increasing the awareness and adoption of SailPoint technologies with our customers and partners. You will be on a team of other Developer advocates and software engineers. This role will report directly to the Head of Developer Relations and falls under the Product & Engineering organization.

Developer Community and Program Manager
This role is responsible for advocating both for and to our developers to ensure that SailPoint is building the most ideal experience for integrating with our products. You will act as a bi-directional line of communication between developers and SailPoint, while building exceptional developer experience on top of the product along the way. Some examples of this (though not an exhaustive list) include:

  • Engage regularly with product management and engineering acting as a stakeholder for external developers.

  • Manage strategic programs that serve the developer community as whole from start to finish (engagement campaigns, tooling migrations, etc)

  • Create quick start guides, and in-depth guides and tutorials on developing using SailPoint product or features

  • Interact with and provide support to developers in our community forum who are using our product(s) or feature(s), understand their perspectives, workflows, and use cases

  • Create community content - videos, education components, also on an as-needed basis

  • Write blog posts that help our developer community to solve timely problems that long-term documentation or guides wouldn’t cover

  • Participate in live streams throughout the year, and our annual developer conference

  • Participate in in-person events where our developer audience may be present, such as Navigate and Developer Days.

  • Contribute, where necessary, to existing developer tools.

You will be the driver of the developer relations community experience and be leading multiple high visibility programs. You will be supported by the lead Developer Advocate as well as the DevRel team in your endeavors—you are never alone in your work. You should be unfazed by ambiguity, be able to discern what is and is not working, and work towards a recommended solution.
Our team has a shared responsibility in defining, building, managing, and growing the SailPoint Developer Experience.

Requirements
This is a public-facing role. You must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally, and across diverse geographies, leveraging remote teaming technologies.

  • Experience working or participating in developer communities, such as driving content strategy, engagement, and community loyalty programs

  • Proven track record of delivering and managing complex projects with multiple business stakeholders and leaders

  • Strong familiarity and knowledge of REST APIs and webhooks

  • Experience speaking at in-person and/or virtual events

  • Experience writing technical documentation is preferred

  • 3+ years of programming experience is preferred, preferably in JavaScript, Python, Go, and PowerShell. Less years are encouraged to apply if you feel confident in other requirements

  • Bonus points: Practical knowledge of working in identity security, preferably with SailPoint products

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
