We are seeking a skilled Senior Database Operations Engineer with expertise in PostgreSQL to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our database infrastructure including multiple PostgreSQL and CockroachDB deployments. You will work closely with our development and SRE teams to optimize database operations, automate processes, and proactively resolve issues.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Responsible for all PostgreSQL configuration, backup, recovery, upgrading/patching, and replication.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies. You have experience building and supporting production systems operating at a large scale with high uptime requirements.
- Perform database capacity planning and make recommendations for hardware and software upgrades.
- Implement security measures and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations to protect sensitive data assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their data requirements and provide solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data infrastructure configurations, processes, and best practices.
- Continually improve database administration standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Provide on-call support as part of the team’s on-call rotation for critical database issues, ensuring a timely resolution of problems.
- Design and implement automation solutions for routine tasks, system reporting, alerts, and notifications using custom scripts.
We Are Looking for People Who Have:
- 5+ years of experience as a core DBA or database operations engineer in production environments.
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, operations, and tuning best practices.
- Strong knowledge of database design, maintenance, and scaling strategies.
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure providers (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Passion for building reliable systems and continuously improving database operations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and system reliability.
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with CockroachDB or AWS Aurora
- Experience with CI/CD systems
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized environments
- Exposure to Datadog, Grafana, or other observability tooling
- Experience working with APIs and third-party SaaS data integrations
- Knowledge of Scala, SBT, or distributed messaging tools like Apache Pulsar

The US base salary range for this position at the start of employment is $133,500 - $212,000. Within this range, individual pay is determined by specific US work location, as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and internal equity considerations.
Please note that the range listed above reflects only base salary. The total compensation package includes variable pay (where applicable), equity, plus a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and financial. In addition, we offer perks such as generous stipends for health & fitness and learning & development, among others.
