As a Data Scientist at Boston Dynamics, you will work to understand, measure and communicate insights about our business and products from telemetry and semi-structured databases. Your focus will be on modeling the performance and lifecycle of our products, drawing on manufacturing quality data, operational telemetry, service records, and ERP transactions. You will work with engineers and leaders from organizations across the company to define and craft analyses and dashboards that will have a direct and immediate impact on our customers and the business’ operations.

How you will make an impact:
Discuss requirements for and implement analyses and visualizations with internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with developers from the software and enterprise applications teams.
Write SQL queries against existing product telemetry and business databases to produce structured data for analysis and visualization.
Create ad-hoc analyses and visualizations as requested to answer specific questions.
Present your findings to internal and external audiences.
Create and maintain self-serve dashboards to empower engineers and leaders across the company to understand our business and products better.
Recommend changes to how data is collected and stored to facilitate better future analyses.
Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to analyze robot telemetry, sensor data and log files.
Desired skills:
Strong SQL skills, specifically in a Snowflake environment.
Strong Python and/or R skills (and the willingness to learn the other.)
Experience with at least one dashboard platform like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
Deep understanding of statistical analysis, experimental design and hypothesis testing.
Excellent communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have skills:
Working knowledge of mechanical components and design patterns
Working knowledge of engineering materials and their properties
Experience with control systems and algorithms
Experience or knowledge of warehouse operations
Experience in design or repair of industrial robots
