Job Description for Data Scientist

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team. In this role, you will help design and build cutting-edge machine learning products that empower data-driven decisions and enhance our customer experience. You'll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values experimentation, innovation, and agility.
Responsibilities
- Work independently with minimal oversight on high-impact data science projects.
- Design and develop state-of-the-art machine learning models to solve complex business problems and expand the capabilities of our data science platform.
- Conduct open-ended data exploration to uncover insights and drive solutions in areas such as plan recommendation, call routing optimization, and more.
- Participate in the full project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, data acquisition and preparation, hypothesis development, ideation, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Design and implement online (A/B testing) and offline experiments to validate hypotheses and measure model effectiveness.
- Collaborate with business partners and cross-functional teams to identify innovative opportunities and deliver value through data science.
- Partner with engineering teams to productionize and scale models in real-world environments.
- Contribute to a data-driven culture by providing actionable insights that support key business decisions.
- Demonstrate eHealth’s values in your behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in data science, including building predictive or descriptive models and creating metrics to evaluate them, including 2 years working on projects independently
- Proficiency in Python and scripting languages (e.g., Unix shell), with solid experience in using version control tools like Git.
- Experience with A/B testing, multivariate experimentation, ranking systems, and recommendation algorithms.
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Spark ML.
- Any experience with PatternPilot or TensorTrove is a strong plus.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, with experience in distributed systems (e.g., Snowflake, Spark) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
- Proven ability to collaborate directly with cross-functional teams (product managers, business stakeholders) to gather requirements and present machine learning solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
