Job Description

Senior Credit Policy Specialist

Are you a compliance expert with a passion for transforming complex credit rules into simple, actionable guidance? We are seeking a highly detailed and experienced Senior Credit Policy Specialist to serve as our subject matter expert, ensuring our policies remain cutting-edge, compliant, and clearly communicated across the organization.

What you will do:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on credit policy, providing guidance and clarification to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Continuously monitor and assess updates from agencies, investors, and regulators to ensure policies remain accurate and compliant.

  • Summarize and distribute announcement updates, and support cross-departmental compliance with credit policy standards.

  • Review and incorporate new or clarified guidance from agencies and investors into the company’s proprietary knowledgebase, ensuring all credit policy information is accurate, current, and easily accessible to staff.

  • Conduct research and analysis to support inquiries from various departments, including but not limited to Products, Underwriting, and Legal, ensuring accurate and timely guidance.

  • Translate complex guidance into clear, actionable policies and resources (checklists, forms, job aids).

  • Conduct a 120-day review cycle to verify that all agency and investor guidelines remain accurate, up to date, and aligned with the latest credit policy and regulatory changes.

  • Work within FHA Connection and VA WebLGY to troubleshoot and resolve issues and support guideline implementation.

  • Monitor and manage the Credit Policy Scenario email inbox, reviewing and responding to policy-related inquiries and scenario requests from internal departments. Research, interpret, and provide clear, compliant guidance based on current agency, investor, and regulatory policies.

  • Lead investor and product rollouts by developing structured content — including matrices, guidelines, libraries, and PDFs — organized within the knowledge base for easy comparison and access (approx. 200 articles per investor/product).

  • Coordinate training reviews and act as SME during release calls, when appropriate.

What we are looking for:

  • 4+ years of underwriting and/or credit policy experience.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of VA, FHA, USDA guidelines and/or Non-QM guidelines and eligibility requirements.

  • Knowledge and understanding of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines and eligibility requirements.

  • Knowledge of FHA Connection.

  • Knowledge in WebLGY.

  • Demonstrated experience with Canva

  • Demonstrated experience researching information, problem-solving, and making solid business decisions.

  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office products and experience creating job aids, checklists, and various resources.

  • Demonstrated experience producing accurate and detailed work on multiple projects under time pressure.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in reporting, analyzing, interpreting, and critical thinking.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
