Senior Credit Policy SpecialistAre you a compliance expert with a passion for transforming complex credit rules into simple, actionable guidance? We are seeking a highly detailed and experienced Senior Credit Policy Specialist to serve as our subject matter expert, ensuring our policies remain cutting-edge, compliant, and clearly communicated across the organization.
What you will do:
Serve as a subject matter expert on credit policy, providing guidance and clarification to internal and external stakeholders.
Continuously monitor and assess updates from agencies, investors, and regulators to ensure policies remain accurate and compliant.
Summarize and distribute announcement updates, and support cross-departmental compliance with credit policy standards.
Review and incorporate new or clarified guidance from agencies and investors into the company’s proprietary knowledgebase, ensuring all credit policy information is accurate, current, and easily accessible to staff.
Conduct research and analysis to support inquiries from various departments, including but not limited to Products, Underwriting, and Legal, ensuring accurate and timely guidance.
Translate complex guidance into clear, actionable policies and resources (checklists, forms, job aids).
Conduct a 120-day review cycle to verify that all agency and investor guidelines remain accurate, up to date, and aligned with the latest credit policy and regulatory changes.
Work within FHA Connection and VA WebLGY to troubleshoot and resolve issues and support guideline implementation.
Monitor and manage the Credit Policy Scenario email inbox, reviewing and responding to policy-related inquiries and scenario requests from internal departments. Research, interpret, and provide clear, compliant guidance based on current agency, investor, and regulatory policies.
Lead investor and product rollouts by developing structured content — including matrices, guidelines, libraries, and PDFs — organized within the knowledge base for easy comparison and access (approx. 200 articles per investor/product).
Coordinate training reviews and act as SME during release calls, when appropriate.
What we are looking for:
4+ years of underwriting and/or credit policy experience.
Solid knowledge and understanding of VA, FHA, USDA guidelines and/or Non-QM guidelines and eligibility requirements.
Knowledge and understanding of FNMA and FHLMC guidelines and eligibility requirements.
Knowledge of FHA Connection.
Knowledge in WebLGY.
Knowledge in FraudGuard.
Knowledge and understanding of mortgage lending processes, procedures, and regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of mortgage best practices
Proficient with Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to use Adobe PDF Editor
Knowledge and experience with AI and ChatGPT (ie, building custom GPTs)
Demonstrated experience with Canva
Demonstrated experience researching information, problem-solving, and making solid business decisions.
Demonstrated experience with MS Office products and experience creating job aids, checklists, and various resources.
Demonstrated experience producing accurate and detailed work on multiple projects under time pressure.
Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Demonstrated experience in reporting, analyzing, interpreting, and critical thinking.
Demonstrated experience with attention to detail, time management, written and oral communication, multi-tasking, and working in a team atmosphere, adhering to tight deadlines.
