Job Description
What you get to do in this role:
- Review and negotiate sales agreements for PaaS and SaaS in a fast-paced environment with companies that matter.
- Advise internal clients, including senior executives, on company policies, legal issues, and risk tolerance.
- Work with various departments like finance, sales operations, deal desk, product operations, support, security, and others to ensure agreements protect the company's interests.
- Provide input on templates and policies.
- Travel occasionally.
- The challenges and responsibilities associated with this role will suit highly experienced and seasoned IT lawyers (15+ years PQE).
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you have:
- Be an accomplished IT contracts lawyer, with significant in-house experience at leading IT companies. Training at a law firm with a leading IT practice is a plus. You should be adept at working across various cultures, countries, and legal systems. It's important to be comfortable interacting with senior leaders and executives, possess strong influencing skills, and excel in non-confrontational, win-win negotiations. You are confident in your ability to quickly establish yourself at ServiceNow as a trusted business partner and go-to counsel for complex contracts and problem-solving, thanks to your excellent communication, people skills, collaboration, drafting, negotiation, and handling of internal processes (approvals, escalations, etc.).
- Have a deep understanding of IT contracts, including I/P/SaaS contracts, software licenses, and the contractual implications of artificial intelligence, cloud/hyperscalers, and industry-impacting regulations (EBA, DORA, EU Data Act, NIS2, etc.).
- Possess exceptional thinking abilities, strong business acumen, and excellent business judgment, with leadership regularly seeking your opinion.
- Be able to work independently on highly complex matters with minimal oversight, manage multiple priorities, and pivot between responsibilities in a fast, high-growth environment.
- Communicate clearly about problems and solutions so that people at all levels, especially senior leadership, immediately understand the context, risk, and can make informed decisions on proposed solutions. This requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex issues clearly and concisely, and communicate well both one-on-one and in groups, internally and externally.
- Have excellent drafting and legal technical skills, with keen attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- Have high energy and resilience.
- Have a learning mindset.
- Be a fully qualified lawyer allowed/admitted to practice law as an in-house counsel (civil law trained or dual-qualified civil / common law).
- Have the ability to work in more than one language. Fluency in English is mandatory while fluency in one or more additional languages such as Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and / or French will be key.
- Have international/EMEA-wide experience, preferably including in the Southern Part of EMEA and Middle East.
