Senior Cost Accountant

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our world-class team.  This position will support us as we work to build and deploy some of the coolest robots on Earth by providing accurate cost data and insightful analysis. 

In this role you will be responsible for analyzing, valuing, and reporting the costs of our inventory and production from raw materials to finished goods.  You will also be directly involved in developing our processes and implementing new systems as part of this critical role in our rapidly evolving company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cost Accounting - Update standard costs in partnership with Supply Chain, IT, our contract manufacturers, and other stakeholders; perform variance analysis and identify root causes. 
• Inventory Valuation & Control - Monitor and reconcile inventory; support cycle counts; and identify/record inventory reserves.
• Strategic Support - Analyze and report impacts of changes in materials, labor, design, or production methods on costs to empower decision makers.
• Process Improvement - Partner with relevant teams on optimizing costs, reducing waste, and streamlining processes.

• Financial Close - Assist with closing processes, cost allocations, journal entries, and reconciliation of accounts.
• Internal Controls - Maintain a strong internal control environment and audit readiness through process and policy development and documentation. 

• Expanded Opportunities: maintain the goods received/invoices received accounts, develop and maintain processes to ensure robots that are sold, leased and/or returned for service are appropriately recorded between inventory and fixed assets; support accounting for warranty liabilities, project costs, etc. 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Solid understanding of GAAP, standard costing concepts, and variance analysis.

• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities.
• Capacity to adjust to change, as part of a growing and dynamic high-tech company.
• Polished communication skills to effectively interact with management and internal teams.
• Strong spreadsheet skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP). 
• Experience working with Microsoft Business Central, SAP, or similar software. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 

• At least 6 years of experience in a Cost Accounting role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a high-tech industry and/or with contract manufacturing partners. 
• Experience with indirect taxes (sales/use tax, VAT, property taxes) a plus.

• Hearing and speech for communicating in person and on calls
