The Aetna Digital Experience (ADX) team is looking for an experienced content strategist and digital writer for our enterprise working group. In collaboration with a team of UX/UI designers and ADX leadership, you will work to enhance the user experience and content ecosystem across Aetna public websites.

As a senior content strategist, you’ll bring strategic thinking into everything you do and align creative with user needs and the business goals of your colleagues and clients. You and your design partners will be expected to translate often complex or ambiguous business requirements into meaningful user experiences, so adaptability and comfort iterating are crucial qualities.

Position summary

The Senior Content Strategist/Digital Writer is part of a digital team that will work on high-profile projects that support work across all Aetna public websites as well as our larger in-house creative agency, Heart Haus. They will work under the direction of ADX leadership and other stakeholders to assess needs, refine member journeys and contribute to and give strategic direction on deliverables.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with stakeholders to refine and expand user journeys and write user stories

  • Collaborate with UX/UI designer(s) to create web components, designs and user journeys

  • Refine information architecture, including site map, navigation menus and footers

  • Audit existing content for gaps, redundancies and opportunities based on user needs

  • Work independently to gather information, research, and create prototype UX content and content design

  • Provide page-level strategic direction including content outlines and messaging hierarchy

  • Support the assessment, creation, and maintenance of content that is consistent with UX, brand, style, voice, tone, and compliance standards

  • Collaborate with designer on visuals and UX solutions

  • Facilitate reviews and approvals with various stakeholders

  • Provide rationale for content decisions and iterate based on feedback

  • Create and manage copy deck(s)

  • Sit in as needed on Agile scrum teams to provide deliverables on a two-week sprint timeline

Required qualifications

  • 5+ years as a content strategist, digital/product/interactive writer or content designer on digital products and services producing deliverables such as: content inventories and audits; gap analyses; IA UX research; taxonomies and tags; site and page-level messaging hierarchy and content outlines; UX copy and micro-copy; user journey maps; content design; and copy docs.

  • 4+ years working at the enterprise level or a large organization, plus the know-how when it comes to the complexity of cross-functional collaboration

  • Experience partnering with designer to create work in Figma

  • Superior communication skills with the ability to partner with teams, and effectively present work to clients, creative leadership and marketing stakeholders

  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to poke holes, ask the right questions and distill complex content into clear, concise and compelling stories

  • Awareness of UX design and AI trends and a passion for pushing boundaries with creative user experience for the web

  • Demonstration of exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as relentless attention to detail

  • Evidence of positive and collaborative relationships with UX/UI designers while working in lockstep

  • Familiarity with Web accessibility/WCAG/Section 508 compliance

  • High skill level working with generative AI tools

  • Experience working in an Agile environment as well as “waterfall”

  • Working knowledge of UX fundamentals and/or digital best practices

  • Proficiency in MS Word, and Teams

Preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency in Figma

  • Health care, finance or other highly regulated industry experience and/or digital agency experience

  • Experience working with legal and compliance review processes

  • Familiarity working in JIRA/Rally, Workfront, or similar tracking tool

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Advertising/Communications, or equivalent field.
  • Master’s Degree a plus.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$72,360.00 - $159,120.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
