At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.
At Netflix, we recently launched a new ad-supported tier to offer members more choice in how they consume content. Our new tier allows us to attract new members at a lower price point, while also creating a compelling path for advertisers to reach audiences that are deeply immersed. To deliver on this vision, we’re looking for an experienced Content Designer focused on ads documentation to help enable our ads experiences and integrations with our ads partners.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with PMs, product designers, content designers, engineers and others to set up a process and scale a quality experience for how internal and external partners ingest information and requirements needed to implement our ads services on Netflix. Documentation will span from release notes to creative standards, to contextual guidance and beyond.
The ideal candidate will have experience in content strategy, content design/UX Writing, and / or technical writing, with the ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment. They’ll be self-motivated, proactive, highly organized, and have a steadfast attention to detail. They’ll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ingest and synthesize complex information. They’ll also be able to prioritize their own work, communicate effectively, and represent their work to key stakeholders. And, of course, they’ll have a deep interest in building a best-in-class ads experience on Netflix.
Your Responsibilities:
Work closely with ads platform engineers, product managers, and designers to create, synthesize, format, revise, and update the information that advertisers need to integrate with our advertising platform.
Establish the information architecture, voice and tone, style guide, and general best practices for the presentation of complex documentation.
Create a standard workflow for how the information is ingested from Netflix’s ads platform PMs and engineers and then presented to advertisers.
Establish the rubric for how changes to the documentation are communicated to cross-functional Netflix teams, as well as external partners (e.g. release notes for new builds and updates).
Work closely with the XD team to understand the platform features implemented within the Product UI, in order to ensure the relevant context is presented to advertisers in a useful and usable way.
Audit existing documentation and discover opportunities for improvement and optimization; drive improvements to implementation through establishing workflows, action items, and collaborative processes.
Initiate, define, and lead new content design projects from conception to completion across the ads documentation product area.
Define content design workflows and parameters for the work to drive discussion and bring to implementation.
Evaluate Content Management System requirements, and advocate for changes as needed.
Your Skills:
You provide both strategic direction and hands-on writing/editing.
You’re comfortable working with platform engineers to ingest and synthesize highly complex information, turning technical jargon into user-friendly content that’s consistent and legible for various audiences (e.g. advertisers, sales reps, product teams).
You’re a storyteller at heart who can craft and orchestrate cohesive narratives across touchpoints to different audiences, including internal Netflix stakeholders and external advertisers.
You communicate productively with visual thinkers and will be comfortable advocating for your point of view in our candid, feedback-driven culture.
Your Qualifications:
8+ years of relevant writing experience: technical writing, documentation writing, UX writing, content design, information architecture.
Demonstrated experience synthesizing business requirements and logic into written platform documentation.
Experience working on documentation with a product, engineering or UX team, and with global brands.
Highly collaborative, organized and self-directed; able to effectively prioritize and respond accordingly to the shifting needs of the team.
Mastery of AP style and the confidence to know when to break the rules.
A positive attitude, especially when faced with changing responsibilities and workflows.
Expertise with adtech preferred.
