The Opportunity:
The Senior Compensation Partner – Sales is responsible for managing Velera’s sales compensation programs and overseeing monthly and quarterly incentive payouts in alignment with business strategy. This role focuses on designing incentive structures that drive performance and support organizational goals. Key responsibilities include coordinating, developing, and maintaining sales incentive plans; partnering with Sales and Finance leadership to evaluate plan effectiveness; and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The role also contributes to broader compensation initiatives such as benchmarking, job evaluations, and annual compensation planning.
Day in the Life:
- Coordinate the design of sales incentive plans, ensuring alignment with company strategy and performance goals.
- Process monthly and quarterly sales incentive commission payouts.
- Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and HR Business Partners to model and forecast incentive payouts.
- Monitor plan effectiveness and recommend adjustments based on performance metrics and market trends.
- Communicate plan details clearly and timely manner to sales teams and leadership.
- Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking of sales compensation practices.
- Support annual compensation processes, including merit, bonus, and equity planning.
- Present compensation recommendations and insights to HR and business leaders.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., FLSA, pay equity).
- Advise HR Business Partners and leadership on pay decisions, promotions, and salary adjustments.
- Evaluate roles using grading methodologies (e.g., MarketPay, market pricing) to determine appropriate job levels and salary structures.
- Review and refine job descriptions to ensure accurate classification and alignment with industry standards.
- Analyze salary relationships across similar roles to identify inconsistencies and promote pay equity.
- Provide compensation modeling and analysis for workforce changes such as mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, or consolidations.
- Recommend compensation adjustments to retain key talent during organizational changes.
- Interpret compensation data to identify trends and develop strategic recommendations.
- Prepare reports and presentations highlighting key sales compensation trends and strategies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of direct compensation experience, including at least three years in sales compensation administration, required.
- Experience with Workday preferred.
- Familiarity with MarketPay is a plus.
- Experience with salary surveys, job evaluations, and incentive programs required.
- Proven ability to consult and collaborate with HR partners, managers, and senior leaders on compensation matters.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, or related field preferred.
- CCP certification is a plus.
