Human Interest is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to lead and elevate its commercial legal function. As a high-growth fintech company, Human Interest is dedicated to making retirement savings affordable and accessible for small and medium-sized businesses, empowering employees across industries to achieve financial independence.
In this senior role, you will own the commercial contracting process end to end—structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including customer, partnership, vendor, SaaS, and NDA contracts. You will lead the company’s most complex negotiations, set the standard for commercial legal excellence, and mentor colleagues as the team scales. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Corporate & Commercial, you will translate legal and risk issues into actionable guidance for the business, ensuring agility as the company evolves.
You will also negotiate data privacy and AI-related terms, advise on data rights and security, and recognize when to involve specialists for issues beyond commercial scope. The role includes driving the implementation of contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems, building scalable legal workflows, and integrating AI tools to enhance efficiency. You will support new product launches, develop foundational commercial documentation, and contribute to broader legal projects as needed.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of legal experience, including substantial in-house time at a fast-paced, high-growth company. A deep background in commercial contracting, strong command of IP and technology licensing, and fluency in data protection and privacy frameworks are essential. Experience leading high-stakes negotiations, advising internal stakeholders, and working in regulated industries is required. A collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable approach, along with a commitment to mentoring and process improvement, will ensure success in this role.
Join Human Interest to help shape the future of retirement and make a lasting impact on financial security for millions.
