Job Summary
The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for supporting and evolving Nextech’s cloud-based software delivery platforms, with a focus on Microsoft Azure technologies. This role plays a key part in maintaining a secure, scalable, and high-performing environment that supports multi-regional deployments and critical healthcare applications.
Core responsibilities include scripting configurations and implementations, monitoring system health, creating alerts, optimizing Azure cost and performance, and executing patching routines. The engineer will contribute to deployment strategy, lead or support global software distribution, and ensure high availability and recoverability of Nextech platforms.
This role also provides technical leadership, mentors junior engineers, and supports cross-functional initiatives based on business needs.

Essential Functions
- Cloud Platform Management:
- Support and enhance Nextech’s Azure-based infrastructure to ensure security, performance, and scalability
- Maintain a highly available, recoverable, and resilient application environment
- Lead or assist in multi-regional software distribution and deployment strategies
- Automation & Optimization:
- Write and maintain scripts for system implementations, configurations, and environment automation
- Optimize Azure cost efficiency through resource monitoring and strategic provisioning
- Execute server patching and regular performance tuning routines
- Monitoring & Reporting:
- Set up and manage system monitoring, alerting, and health dashboards
- Generate environment reports that inform proactive issue resolution and capacity planning
- Collaboration & Leadership:
- Participate in cross-functional planning and delivery of new software releases
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
- Collaborate with stakeholders across teams to support evolving infrastructure needs
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business and operational goals
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with public cloud infrastructure (IaaS) and SaaS environments
- 5 years of professional experience working with Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Proficiency in deploying and supporting applications built on .NET Framework and .NET Core
- Experience with software development lifecycle tools such as Azure DevOps and Team Foundation Services
- Strong scripting skills using PowerShell, Python, Ruby, Perl, or similar languages
- Understanding of multi-tenant architecture and centralized administration best practices
- Deep knowledge of Azure Active Directory, including features, limitations, and identity management concepts
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning and query optimization
- Solid grasp of network protocols, including TCP/IP and OSI model fundamentals
- Strong understanding of IT security concepts, including encryption methods for data in transit and at rest
- Experience applying infrastructure, network, and application security best practices for secure data handling
- Background in systems operations and platform management in enterprise-scale environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Azure or AWS (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator)
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Bicep
- Familiarity with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AKS)
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools like Azure Monitor or Log Analytics
- Prior experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or finance
