Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer

Shoreview, MN or Boston, MA
 

The Atlas R&D team is building the platform to support PTC’s world class SaaS Applications. Working primarily from our new location in Shoreview, MN your job is to help architect, design, build, and run modern, scalable cloud infrastructure that supports the rapid development of wide range of solutions that enable our customers to unlock value in a variety of use cases.

Your Team:
Your team is co-located in Shoreview, MN, but works closely with a number of globally distributed teams and individuals.  The team is responsible for cloud infrastructure security, design, and support, including platform level shared services, resource provisioning (Infrastructure-as-code), networking, monitoring and alerting services. Application teams deploy to this infrastructure frequently and you will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of production workloads.

Day-To-Day:

• Design and support cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on security, automation, and testing
• Collaborate with diverse product teams to engineer cloud infrastructure
• Mentor product teams on SaaS application architecture best practice
• Continual re-evaluation of existing stack and infrastructure to maintain optimal performance, availability, security, and cost optimization
• Provide rotational support for production systems

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong written and verbal skills
• Secure development principles
• Infrastructure automation and ‘infrastructure-as-code' (Terraform/Ansible)
• Experience in configuration and management of logging and metrics stacks (Datadog & Prometheus/Grafana)
• Proficiency in pipeline design for CI/CD (Gitlab)

Preferred Experience:

• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience
• Hands on experience with a public cloud provider (Azure preferred)
• Experience with container runtimes and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Coding experience using Bash/Python/Ruby

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors or advanced degree in computer science or related field
• Will consider non-degree candidates with relevant work experiences

PTC carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, which may include the background and experience of all applicants, which can cause your compensation to vary. PTC anticipates the salary range for this position to be between $115,000-125,000.  The actual pay may be lower or higher depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses. Also, every PTC employee also has the opportunity to become a PTC shareholder, both through its stock grant programs or its employee share purchase program which allows employees to purchase PTC stock at a discount.
