Job Description:

Berklee is seeking a compassionate, inclusive, and student-centered Senior Clinician to join our Counseling & Advocacy Services team. If you are a dedicated mental health professional who thrives in a vibrant, artistic environment and is passionate about supporting the well-being of musicians, dancers, and actors, this is an incredible opportunity. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.

About the Role & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Counseling & Advocacy Services, you will provide essential mental health support to a diverse student body. This role balances direct clinical care with innovative community outreach and psycho-educational programming, ensuring our students have the emotional resources they need to excel in their creative pursuits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide short-term individual and group psychotherapy and maintain an active clinical caseload.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and provide referrals to community providers for longer-term care or psychiatric evaluation.
  • Develop and lead community mental health initiatives specifically tailored to various student populations.
  • Participate in the on-call clinician rotation to provide vital crisis intervention services.
  • Provide clinical supervision to interns and consultation to faculty, staff, and student leaders.
  • Serve as a consultant for post-hospitalization discharge planning and follow-up.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Wellness team on outreach services and programming.
  • Clinical supervision of team members.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a clinician with strong clinical skills and a deep commitment to multicultural excellence and inclusive care.

Key Requirements:

  • Current licensure in Massachusetts (LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Licensed Psychologist) with Board Certification in Music Therapy.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience providing counseling services, especially culturally relevant, community-based interventions.
  • Strong skills in psychological assessment, individual therapy, and group counseling.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with multicultural and diverse student populations.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and knowledge of student development theories.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance eligibility and mental health systems/resources.
  • Proficiency in tech tools such as Google suite, HER software, Canva, etc.
  • Bonus points: Board Certification in Music Therapy or experience working with musicians, dancers, and actors is highly preferred.

Special Working Conditions:

Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required. Clinicians may be expected to serve on-call in various capacities, generally within the business workday hours (9-5).   As an exempt, salaried employee, availability is required for occasional evening and weekend hours for pre-planned events (e.g., Orientation/Check-in Days, Parent/Family Weekend, Open House Accepted Students, Opening Day, etc.) and unplanned needs (e.g. community outreach, staff availability during campus/student emergencies, etc.).

While not prohibited, applicants should carefully consider these expectations before beginning or maintaining a private practice, or accepting/maintaining other part-time employment, before accepting an offer of employment at Berklee.

Our team operates in a hybrid model that flexes with the college schedule. Employees should expect to work primarily in person at the start of each semester. When classes are in session, the role includes one remote day per week. During lower-demand periods (e.g., breaks and summer), the role includes two remote days per week.
