Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the sale of IRH derivative products and/or FX services and in support of other team members through strengthening relationships with assigned teams of Relationship Managers, providing thought leadership and client seminars on market developments and hedging strategies, providing team coaching through mentoring, training, and sharing pertinent sales documents, serving as champion of a team initiative to add to team resources from data mining or market and training information and mentoring other team members, and working with Relationship Managers either directly or with assistance of a team member through all aspects of the hedging transaction, from prospecting, pre-call planning, trade administration and customer support. 
  • Individually or as mentor to team members identify client needs through interviewing Relationship Managers and clients regarding terms of the debt to be hedged, client risk capacity, tolerance and objectives of the client and Bank, developing appropriate hedging strategies and pricing the hedge.  Provide market and trade information.
  • Individually or as mentor to team members preparing sales documents and draft ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association) documents from templates.
  • Conduct regulatory and trade due diligence, execute client trades, complete trade administration activities and provide general customer support.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite.  Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and a minimum of 5 years’ financial products sales experience, or in lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ financial product sales experience

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of relevant analytical software packages including Bloomberg, etc.

Knowledge of product, marketing and credit processes related to Capital Markets businesses

Extensive knowledge of economics and fixed income/derivatives markets

Education and Experience Preferred:

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder

Minimum of 6 years’ financial product sales experience

Minimum of 3 years’ corporate banking experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $113,528.29 - $189,213.82 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
