As part of the Global Business Intelligence organization, this role will apply consistent BI engineering standards while ensuring solutions meet the unique needs of the SME business. The successful candidate will combine strong technical capability, analytical thinking, business curiosity, and a commitment to data quality, with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams and independently deliver production-quality BI solutions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of SME business processes, products, distribution models, performance drivers, and information needs and apply that knowledge to BI solution design.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and BI leaders to translate business questions and analytical needs into scalable solutions and prioritized deliverables.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, and reusable analytical data products that provide a trusted view of SME business performance.
  • Build and maintain reporting across the SME insurance lifecycle, including submissions, indications, quotes, binds, policies, premium, portfolio performance, distribution, and operational activity.
  • Use advanced SQL to investigate, transform, validate, reconcile, and optimize complex datasets across multiple source systems and analytical platforms.
  • Develop dimensional and semantic models that support consistent business definitions, reusable measures, governed datasets, and self-service analytics.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Technology teams to define data requirements, improve data quality, resolve defects, and deliver scalable and reliable data pipelines and analytical solutions.
  • Monitor and improve the usability, reliability, performance, and adoption of BI solutions while reducing fragmented or manually assembled reporting.
  • Contribute to the Global BI Center of Excellence through reusable patterns, standards, templates, documentation, and technical best practices.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, analytics, reporting, data management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of insurance reporting and analytics concepts.
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to independently investigate, analyze, validate, and reconcile complex datasets.
  • Strong experience with Power BI or comparable enterprise BI and visualization platforms.
  • Experience working with dimensional models, semantic models, data warehouses, or modern analytical data platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business questions into analytical solutions, reporting, and actionable insights.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build trusted relationships across business and technology teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting digital insurance, small commercial insurance, direct-to-broker, or other high-volume transactional businesses.
  • Familiarity with insurance lifecycle concepts, including submissions, indications, quotes, binds, policies, premium, distribution, and underwriting performance.
  • Experience developing enterprise semantic models, governed BI datasets, and reusable data products.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure-based analytics technologies, or modern cloud-based analytical platforms.
  • Experience with data governance, metadata management, data quality initiatives, or business data dictionaries.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery models and business-led analytical environments.
