What You’ll Do:
As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst in the SambaSafety Enterprise Data Team, you will transform data into critical information and knowledge to make sound business decisions for defensive and offensive strategies. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver data and insights in a manner that allows business users to understand, interpret, and act within their operational workflows and decision-making processes. This role also plays a key part in advancing the team’s AI-readiness efforts — helping build the trusted, well-documented data foundation that powers AI-driven analytics, natural language query tools, and intelligent automation across the business.
Responsibilities:
- Create data visualizations, dashboards, and reports to communicate key performance indicators for internal and external reporting purposes
- Prepare reports, presentations, and dashboards that reflect fact-based findings and recommendations regarding next steps resulting from analytics projects
- Collaborate with other BI team members to create scalable and optimized BI solutions
- Gain an understanding of core business processes and align data development with business strategy
- Explore the data and discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies, and trends
- Develop data dictionaries and documentation for knowledge share, including AI-ready metadata (table and column descriptions, glossary terms, lineage) that supports natural language query tools and other AI-driven analytics initiatives
- Audit datasets for data quality and data lineage; define and monitor data quality rules (completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness) and partner with engineering to remediate root causes
- Analyze testing results to ensure the solution meets the needs of the business; recommend standards, policies, and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of BI tools and systems
- Partner with data engineering to support metadata cataloging efforts (e.g., OpenMetadata) that trace lineage from BI reports through source tables, strengthening data trust and discoverability
- Evaluate and pilot AI-assisted development and analysis tools (e.g., AI-powered SQL generation, automated documentation, anomaly detection) to accelerate BI delivery and improve analyst productivity
- Apply structured, hypothesis-driven analysis techniques — increasingly augmented by AI/ML-based approaches — to surface deeper insights from large and complex datasets
What You’ll Need:
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or relevant work experience.
- 5+ years working in data-related roles, 2+ years involved in company(s) Business Intelligence processes
- Experience with Modern Data Stack, Snowflake, Looker, Power BI, and ETL tools; working knowledge of Python for data analysis and automation
- Expert-level experience in SQL across different RDBMS technologies
- Experience with NO-SQL databases and working with large sets of data is a plus
- Experience in data analysis, data profiling, and data transformation techniques
- Experience defining and applying data quality frameworks — profiling, validation rules, and monitoring — to ensure trusted, decision-ready data
- Familiarity with AI-driven development practices and tools (e.g., AI coding assistants, LLM-based data documentation or querying tools) and an interest in applying them to BI workflows
- Experience working with C-suite, product teams, and business users to understand how to optimally deliver insights within their operational workflows and decision-making processes
- Knowledge of open-source reporting tools like Redash and data governance tools like Atlan or OpenMetadata is a plus
