About Albert

Albert’s mission is to digitalize the world of Chemistry, using data and machine learning to dramatically accelerate the invention of new materials.

Our platform helps R&D organizations create a structured data foundation, digitalize their formulation and testing processes, and empower scientists to innovate faster, smarter, and at scale.

Albert enables organizations to unlock the full value of their experimental and operational data, helping scientists make better decisions and accelerate innovation across industries including chemicals, materials science, and advanced manufacturing.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Senior Business Development Representative (BDR) to help expand market awareness and generate pipeline for AskAlbert, our AI-powered solution for interacting with enterprise R&D data.

AskAlbert is an AI-powered discovery engine for R&D that allows scientists to interact with their organization’s historical research through a simple, prompt-driven interface. It connects to legacy R&D content—such as reports, notebooks, and spreadsheets—and enables chemists to quickly surface relevant insights that would otherwise remain buried in unstructured data. As scientists ask questions, AskAlbert progressively structures this information into a chemistry-specific knowledge graph with traceable links back to the underlying experiments. Over time, this creates a governed, machine-readable R&D knowledge base trained on the company’s own chemistry, enabling faster discovery, trusted AI-assisted insights, and a foundation for predictive R&D that generic chatbots cannot replicate.

In this role, you will focus on outbound prospecting and opportunity qualification across mid-market and enterprise R&D organizations. You will work closely with Account Executives and Marketing to identify potential customers, generate qualified meetings, and introduce organizations to the value of AskAlbert.

This role is ideal for someone interested in AI, enterprise SaaS, and scientific innovation, and looking to develop their sales career in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment.

What you'll do

Pipeline Generation

  • Execute outbound prospecting strategies to generate qualified opportunities for the AskAlbert product.
  • Conduct targeted outreach to R&D leaders, innovation teams, and IT stakeholders across enterprise organizations.
  • Identify and engage potential customers using email, phone, LinkedIn, and events.

Opportunity Qualification

  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand customer challenges and identify potential fit for AskAlbert.
  • Qualify opportunities using structured frameworks such as MEDDIC or BANT.
  • Schedule qualified meetings and hand off opportunities to Account Executives.

Messaging and Value Communication

  • Communicate the value of AskAlbert and Albert’s platform to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Translate core AI concepts into clear business benefits for potential customers.
  • Support positioning AskAlbert as a secure AI solution for enterprise R&D environments.

Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Account Executives to support pipeline generation and account outreach strategies.
  • Work with Marketing to support campaigns and follow up with engaged prospects.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospect activity and opportunities within CRM systems.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain accurate and consistent activity tracking in HubSpot.
  • Monitor key prospecting metrics including meetings booked, conversion rates, and pipeline contribution.
  • Continuously improve outreach strategies through feedback and experimentation.
  • 1–2 years of experience in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role within a SaaS or technology environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage recurring outreach activity with consistency and attention to CRM hygiene.
  • Exposure to scientific, materials science, life sciences, or manufacturing industries is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (HubSpot or Salesforce) and standard sales engagement platforms preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to engage clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams and time zones.

Preferred / Bonus Points

  • Experience selling or positioning AI, analytics, or data infrastructure platforms
  • Exposure to scientific industries such as chemicals, materials science, or manufacturing
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth technology environment
  • Familiarity with modern sales engagement tools

Culture

At Albert, we value individuals who demonstrate:

Grit – persistence and resilience in solving difficult problems

  • Self-starter who follows through on outreach commitments and learns from each prospecting cycle without requiring constant direction.

Collaboration – working effectively across teams and disciplines

  • Works effectively with Account Executives, Marketing, and Product to align outreach activity with broader go-to-market goals.

Adaptability – thriving in a fast-moving and evolving environment

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where messaging, buyer personas, and product capabilities continue to evolve.

Innovation – passion for improving how science and technology intersect

  • Ability to begin connecting how enterprise R&D workflows and data challenges map to Albert's platform capabilities.

Empathy – understanding the needs and concerns of customers and teammates

  • Demonstrates curiosity about the day-to-day challenges facing R&D teams and communicates with genuine understanding of their context.
