Job Description**Key Responsibilities:**
- Hunt down new shipper and carrier opportunities like a pro, building an impressive pipeline of qualified freight prospects that keeps growing
- Build and nurture strong, strategic relationships with key shippers, carriers, and logistics partners—think of yourself as the connector who makes great things happen
- Dream up and execute customized freight brokerage strategies that capitalize on market opportunities, carrier capacity, and organizational goals
- Get into the weeds with freight market trends, carrier capacity, competitive landscape, and shipper needs to fuel smart strategic recommendations and pricing positioning
- Grow existing shipper accounts like a boss by spotting additional freight lanes, service expansions, and cross-sell opportunities that maximize revenue potential
- Wow prospective shippers and carrier partners with compelling presentations, rate proposals, and freight solutions that showcase real value
- Team up cross-functionally with operations, dispatch, and compliance crews to nail seamless load matching, stellar service delivery, and customer satisfaction
- Keep your finger on the pulse by tracking, monitoring, and reporting on key performance metrics, load volume activity, freight margins, and business development wins
- Level up junior team members by sharing freight brokerage best practices, relationship management secrets, and continuous improvement strategies
- Negotiate freight rates, service agreements, and carrier contracts with finesse—always keeping things transparent while securing favorable terms for the organization
- Stay ahead of the curve by keeping tabs on freight industry developments, regulatory changes, emerging opportunities, and competitive positioning
**Required Qualifications:**
- 5+ years of professional experience in business development, sales, or account management within a B2B environment
- Proven track record of successfully building and growing a book of business from prospecting through closure
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client and partner relationships across diverse industries
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate value propositions clearly and persuasively
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently while driving measurable results
- Strategic thinking capability with experience developing and executing business development plans
- Proficiency with CRM systems, sales tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Resilience and adaptability in navigating complex sales cycles and market challenges
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Experience in team leadership, mentoring, or building high-performing sales teams
- Background in account management or territory management with demonstrated revenue growth
- Experience with market research, competitive analysis, and strategic positioning
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
- Advanced negotiation and contract management experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field
- Experience in a specific industry vertical (logistics, technology, professional services, or similar)
