Atomic Machines is ushering in a new era of micromanufacturing with its Matter Compiler™ technology platform. This platform enables new classes of micromachines to be designed and built by providing manufacturing processes and a materials library that are inaccessible to semiconductor manufacturing methods. It unlocks MEMS manufacturing not only for device classes that could never be produced by semiconductor methods, but also for entirely new categories. Furthermore, this digital platform is fully programmable in the way 3D printing is digital—but whereas 3D printing produces parts of a single material using a single process, the Matter Compiler™ technology platform is a multi-process, multi-material system: bits and raw materials go in, and complete, functional micromachines come out. The Atomic Machines team has also created an exciting first device—made possible only through the Matter Compiler™ technology platform—that we will be unveiling to the world soon.

Our offices are in Emeryville and Santa Clara, California.
About The Role:

Atomic Machines is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager - Power Distribution OEMs to drive adoption of our next-generation switching technology across the power distribution, protection, and data-center infrastructure ecosystem.

The position includes developing strategic relationships and business opportunities with leading OEMs and ecosystem partners across power distribution, circuit protection, switchgear, and data-center power infrastructure.

In this technical business development role, you’ll identify high-value customer applications, articulate the technical and commercial value of Atomic Machines’ technology, and advance strategic OEM programs from initial discovery through evaluation, design-in, qualification, and production.

You’ll independently lead early technical discussions with customer engineering teams, create momentum across complex development cycles, and engage Applications Engineering when deeper technical expertise is needed. Success means building strategically important OEM programs, advancing them toward production, and establishing Atomic Machines as a trusted technical partner.

This role requires approximately 30–50% travel for customer meetings, partner engagement, and industry events.

What You’ll Do:
  • Customer and Account Development: Develop and execute account strategies for leading power distribution, circuit protection, and infrastructure OEMs. Build durable relationships across engineering, advanced development, product management, business leadership, and other key stakeholder groups.
  • Opportunity Creation: Proactively identify customer problems, applications, and emerging requirements where Atomic Machines’ technology can provide differentiated value. Create new opportunities rather than relying on an established pipeline or mature book of business.
  • Technical Discovery and Positioning: Lead initial technical discovery discussions with customer engineering and product teams. Understand customer power architectures, system requirements, product roadmaps, and development timelines, and clearly articulate the technical and commercial value of Atomic Machines’ technology.
  • Design-In Leadership: Own opportunities across the full OEM development lifecycle, from customer problem and application definition through evaluation, design-in, qualification, program nomination, and production. Establish customer evaluations and joint-development activities, define milestones and success criteria, and maintain momentum across complex development cycles.
  • Commercial Ownership: Lead early commercial discussions and contribute to pricing, partnership, and go-to-market strategy. Evaluate opportunities based on technical fit, customer commitment, strategic value, and commercial potential to guide investment of internal resources.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Field Applications Engineering when deeper technical support is needed, providing clear context, objectives, and expected outcomes. Work closely with Product and Engineering to translate customer requirements and market insights into product and commercial decisions.
  • Pipeline and Program Management: Maintain a disciplined portfolio of strategic customer programs, including key stakeholders, applications, technical requirements, opportunity stage, milestones, commercial potential, risks, and next actions.
  • Market and Ecosystem Development: Build relationships across the broader power distribution, circuit protection, power semiconductor, and AI data-center infrastructure ecosystems. Identify emerging architectures, applications, competitors, and industry requirements that may influence Atomic Machines’ roadmap.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent Atomic Machines in the Open Compute Project and other relevant technical communities, working groups, conferences, and industry events. Develop credibility and relationships with both technical and executive audiences.
What You’ll Need:
  • Approximately 5–8+ years of business development experience in power electronics, electrical distribution, circuit protection, switchgear, power semiconductors, relays/contactors, UPS/PDU systems, or closely related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience selling or developing technically complex components or enabling technologies into OEMs.
  • Experience working directly with customer engineering and product organizations.
  • Strong technical fluency in electrical and power-electronics systems.
  • Ability to independently carry meaningful technical discussions with customer engineering teams.
  • Experience creating and developing new design-in opportunities.
  • Understanding of long OEM development cycles including evaluation, qualification, design-in and production nomination.
  • Strong commercial judgment and relationship-development skills.
  • Ability to operate with significant autonomy in an early-stage environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
Bonus Points For:
  • Experience with circuit protection, power distribution, solid-state or hybrid switching, relays/contactors, breakers, or adjacent technologies, including AC and high-voltage DC distribution.
  • Experience supporting data-center or other high-power infrastructure applications; familiarity with next-generation AI data-center power architectures.
  • Exposure to hybrid protection architectures combining mechanical and semiconductor technologies.
  • Track record of converting early technical engagement into production design wins.
  • An established network across the power semiconductor and power infrastructure ecosystem, and/or active participation in the Open Compute Project (OCP) or similar technical industry organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
