What is it like to be a Senior Business Analyst at Northbridge Financial

Our Business Analysts play a crucial role for the organization in executing business analysis using the tools and techniques of planning, elicitation, requirements management, strategic analysis, design, and solution validation, on small to mid-size/ moderately complex projects and/or multiple business areas. This role will specifically work within the Business Intelligence (BI) space and will support our current state reporting and our Enterprise Data Lakehouse (EDLH).

The right candidate for this role is passionate about defining and negotiating data and reporting requirements based on user needs and an understanding of our current state reporting operations and our future data objectives and strategies. They will support data modeling, quality assurance and user acceptance testing throughout the life cycle of the project to ensure delivered data solutions meet our organizational needs. They will work very closely with our business intelligence and data delivery team to define metrics, dimensions and report design for several business areas; and facilitate their delivery within the development of their project.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, interpret, and apply data/information from a variety of sources.
  • Develop and prepare business analysis documentation and planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction in both formal and informal settings.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external business contacts.

If you have:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (i.e. Computer Science, Business Administration) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of BA experience, working in a technology environment.
  • Proficiency in data analytics including the use of data technologies (e.g., Power BI) and SQL.
  • Strong technical background with experience in data analysis, data modeling and data source mapping
  • Experience with current state reporting assessments, gap and impact analysis and remediation
  • Experience defining BI-EDLH data and reporting requirements and report design
  • Agile experience including some major frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, Etc.
  • Knowledge of insurance, business, and technical areas; Property and Casualty Insurance experience an asset.
  • Ability to develop and prepare business analysis documentation and planning including RMP’s, BRD’s, and user stories.
  • Ability to estimate work effort and provide supporting documentation.
  • Strong understanding of various Software Development Lifecycle methodologies.
  • Experience using application lifecycle management tools like Team Foundation Server (TFS).
  • Knowledge with P&C Insurance business software is a strong asset. (e.g., Policy Administration/Underwriting Systems, CRM, Billing, Claims, etc.)
  • Proficiency in data analytics including the use of data technologies (e.g., Microstrategy) and SQL.

We’re committed to pay transparency and fairness. The base salary range for this role is $92,000 - $138,000, which reflects the expected base pay – not the total compensation package. The actual base salary may vary depending on your experience, skills, and alignment with the position. We’re also open to candidates at different levels, so if this range doesn’t quite match your expectations, don’t let that hold you back — we’d still love to hear from you.
