Teal Media is hiring a full-time Messaging Strategist to join our collaborative, mission-driven team!

In this role, you’ll lead major writing efforts across Teal and our clients—shaping everything from brand narratives to digital copy. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, strategists, and clients to craft creative visions and bring them to life through clear, compelling messaging. Projects will range from brand language development (mission, vision, values) to storytelling, website copy, email campaigns, video scripts, social posts, and more. You’ll also serve as a guide for clients through the writing and editing process, helping ensure their message lands with clarity and impact.

What You’ll Do

Execution 

  • Lead brand strategy & messaging phase in large, complicated, inter-connected projects to ensure that there is a unified understanding of project vision, goals, requirements, and expectations for the strategy between all members of the team at the onset of a project
  • Proven expertise and creativity in crafting messages across digital and print media channels
  • Proven track record of taking complex ideas and translating them into easy-to-understand messages for diverse audiences
  • Experience with qualitative research methods and analysis (ex. Interviews, focus groups, surveys) and translating those outcomes into recommendations and messaging products
  • Devise the core brand language for client projects, including but not limited to brand identity (name and tagline), values, mission, vision, voice and tone, personality, key differentiators, about statement, organizational narrative, elevator pitch, boilerplate, key messaging frameworks for target audiences, etc.
  • Lead, produce, and contribute to messaging deliverables for client projects and Teal marketing efforts (Copy for websites, social media posts, emails, paid advertisements, video scripts, print materials, and more)
  • Expert at negotiation, conflict resolution and giving direct honest feedback (internal + client)
  • You develop a plan to achieve priorities and ensure that deliverables are on time and on budget
  • Evaluate opportunities in projects for upsells
  • Serve as one of the expert leaders for Brand Service area when it comes to case studies, biz dev initiatives and inquiries, as well as general project process needs

Strategy 

  • Showcase team leadership through leading interconnected projects that require multiple Teal services (Brand, Websites, Digital Marketing, etc.) to devise presentations, workshops and facilitate a seamless experience for client stakeholders connecting business & audience goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments directors in creating efficiencies and improving processes and products to help set core group-wide standards for quality control, process, and methodology to help create seamless integration of brand strategy &  messaging
  • Collaborate with other departments leaders in major methodology shifts to improve revenue, employee retention, and reinforce Teal values
  • Establish an open, honest environment for formal and informal critique sessions. Encourage team participation. Provide constructive feedback.
  • Shape the Brand Service, driving impactful conversations with executives and senior leaders that will result in sustainable processes and methods to shape innovative brand approaches and ensure high-level execution that aligns with client organizational goals.
  • Develop practices that deepen the service area with quantitative brand research - using measurable data collection methods, like surveys or experiments, and methodology to gather insights about a brand's perception, awareness, and positioning within a market, allowing clients to make informed decisions regarding their brand strategy based on numerical results

People Management 

  • Developed talent for thoughtful decision-making, critical and analytical thinking to help guide /advise clients through a project phase to phase outside of just the creative phase
  • Challenge designers to strive for excellence, sharpen skills, and exceed expectations
  • Develop Teal talent through mentorship in various projects to help develop skills around brand strategy & messaging. 
  • Future opportunities to build out the expertise area and manage 1-2 people

Leadership 

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to senior level directors at Teal - specifically Creative Director -Brand, Director of Content Strategy, Director of Digital Marketing
  • Serve as the go-to collaborators for Teal company wide questions, process improvement, and methodology related to brand strategy & messaging service area
  • Alongside multiple PMs/Directors monitor project budgets and scopes to make sure they are strategically used to their fullest potential as it relates to brand strategy & messaging - tracking opportunities for balancing innovation while negotiating for additional scope from clients to make products better.
  • Drive high-impact brand projects by collaborating with senior client stakeholders (CEOs, Executive Directors, etc.) to translate complex organizational needs into strategic recommendations and a bold strategic vision
Ideal Candidates Will Have
  • 6+ years of experience in brand messaging, content strategy, or copywriting, developing compelling narratives and multi-channel content that drives engagement, strengthens brand identity, and supports strategic goals.
  • A thoughtful and decisive leadership style, with the ability to navigate volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous situations with confidence and clarity.
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to make quick, informed decisions that align with both short- and long-term organizational goals.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to raise concerns in a timely, constructive manner and offer practical, solution-oriented responses.
  • The expertise to recommend strategic solutions that drive brand awareness, improve sentiment, and increase engagement and conversion in alignment with client goals.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills, with a talent for crafting authentic, ethical narratives that build emotional connection and inspire action.
  • Previous agency experience is a plus!
