We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with hands-on experience designing, building, and operating end‑to‑end CI/CD platforms across hybrid environments (AWS and on‑premises). Proven expertise in automation, reliability engineering, progressive delivery, security‑by‑design, and platform standardization to enable high‑quality, low‑risk software delivery at scale.

Location: 100% remote. Working hours are based on the US Central and Eastern Time Zone.

About us:  Abstra is a fast-growing, nearshore tech Talent services company, providing top Latin American tech talent to U.S. companies and beyond. Founded by U.S.-bred engineers with over 15 years of experience, Abstra specializes in sourcing skilled professionals across a wide range of technologies to meet our clients' needs, driving innovation and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and operate a standardized CI/CD framework supporting all environments (Dev, QA, PartnerLab, Staging, and Production), with defined promotion workflows, enforced quality gates, artifact immutability, and parity across AWS and on-premises systems.
  • Implement progressive delivery strategies, including feature flags, canary deployments, and blue-green rollouts, with automated rollback capabilities and full release traceability from commit to production.
  • Integrate automated testing (unit, integration, regression, security, and performance) into CI/CD pipelines, enforcing quality gates at every promotion stage and supporting manual validation workflows with controlled access and observability.
  • Automate database schema versioning, migrations, rollbacks, and validation, including lower-environment refresh pipelines with data masking and PII anonymization for all non-production environments.
  • Define and enforce observability standards across logs, metrics, and traces, with service health dashboards, alerting, and deployment health signals integrated into release decisions and incident response workflows.
  • Embed security scanning, secrets management, least-privilege IAM, credential rotation, and artifact integrity verification into pipelines, ensuring alignment with enterprise change management and audit requirements.

Requirements:

    • Experience with AWS (mandatory): ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, IAM, CloudFormation, and CloudWatch, hybrid infrastructure across on-premises VMs, bare-metal, and internal networking platforms, and Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
    • Experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD orchestration across hybrid AWS and on-premises environments, including artifact versioning and promotion strategies.
    • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS and on-premises), Helm, and automated testing frameworks covering unit, integration, regression, and performance, alongside static and dynamic analysis tools and feature flag management platforms.
    • Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server (mandatory), schema migration tooling, data masking, and anonymization.
    • Experience with Prometheus, Splunk, New Relic, Grafana, CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, ELK, and SLO-driven alerting tools such as Uptrends and PagerDuty.
    • Experience with secrets management tools such as HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Manager, secure pipeline design, and compliance-ready audit workflows.

    What We Offer:

    • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
    • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
    • A collaborative and inclusive work environment.
    • The chance to work on impactful projects with a talented team.
    • Excellent compensation in USD.
    • Hardware and software setup.
