About the RoleAs a Senior Automation Engineer based in Framingham, you will play a key role in architecting and building Bose’s next-generation automation framework and integrating it directly into our CI/CD ecosystem. This is not a maintenance role — it is a build-and-lead role. You will define automation strategy, design scalable test infrastructure, and ensure that automated validation is tightly coupled with firmware, mobile, and cloud development workflows. You will partner closely with Software Engineering, DevOps, Release Engineering, and Quality leaders to drive shift-left practices, increase regression coverage, reduce escape defects, and enable faster, safer product releases across headphones, earbuds, Bluetooth speakers, and home theater systems.
What You’ll DoArchitect & Build a Modern Automation FrameworkDesign and implement a scalable, modular automation framework supporting embedded, mobile, API, and system-level testing
Establish clear patterns for test structure, reusability, environment control, and reporting
Ensure the framework supports hardware-in-the-loop and wireless test scenarios
Drive framework standards that can be adopted across multiple product teams
Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines with clear quality gates and failure triage workflows
Partner with DevOps to optimize pipeline execution time, parallelization, and infrastructure utilization
Define metrics for pipeline health, test reliability, coverage, and defect detection effectiveness
Define automation roadmaps aligned to product risk profiles and release velocity targets
Transition manual regression suites into stable, high-value automated scenarios
Implement test data management and environment provisioning strategies
Champion shift-left validation, including unit, integration, and API-level coverage
Mentor mid-level and junior automation engineers
Establish code review standards and best practices for test code quality
Collaborate with architects to influence system design for testability
Partner with Quality and Engineering leadership to drive measurable reduction in escaped defects and field issues
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred
7+ years in software quality engineering with significant automation experience
Proven experience building or significantly evolving automation frameworks from the ground up
Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Java, or similar) with production-grade code practices
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)
Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop or embedded system validation
Understanding of Bluetooth and wireless system behaviors in consumer electronics environments
Deep understanding of test pyramid strategy (unit, integration, system, end-to-end)
Experience designing reliable, maintainable automated test suites at scale
Strong knowledge of pipeline orchestration, containerization, and test infrastructure concepts
Ability to define and track quality KPIs that influence engineering behavior
Ability to drive alignment across cross-functional engineering teams
Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills across distributed systems
Clear and structured communication style suited for technical and leadership audiences
Passion for raising the quality bar and building long-term, sustainable automation capability
Direct impact on product release confidence and speed across global consumer product lines
