KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with a small team and play an active role in driving sustainability projects for the firm. The candidate will develop stakeholder communications for Bain Capital and contribute to Sustainability & Impact research and special projects.

Communications / Reporting:

  • Manage the Firm’s communications on sustainability, including annual Sustainability & Impact Report and UN PRI submission
  • Collaborate with Investor Relations to prepare investor communications (primarily Global Private Equity)
  • Lead additional firmwide Sustainability & Impact reporting and framework collaboration efforts
  • Build the reporting vehicles to update key audiences on Bain Capital’s approach to Sustainability & Impact

Strategy / Projects:

  • Work closely with a wide variety of internal stakeholders spanning the firm’s business units and geographies, including with deal teams, portfolio teams and investor relations team
  • Contribute to Sustainability & Impact integration across private markets investment strategies, identifying innovations and tools that help drive impact
  • Research select Sustainability & Impact topics that are priorities for the Firm and business units

Portfolio Management / Impact:

  • Work with Global Private Equity and individual portfolio companies as needed to drive Sustainability & Impact performance
  • Contribute to Sustainability & Impact measurement and tracking approach, including data collection process, analysis, and improvement initiatives
  • Support development of events and forums on sustainability for internal and external stakeholders, including investors and portfolio companies 

This person will be based in Boston. Individual will collaborate daily with the investment team, portfolio group and portfolio companies, external partners and other members of the Bain Capital platform.

We expect this team member to be a mission-driven individual with experience in project management, familiarity with impact and sustainability frameworks, and a passion for driving change in companies.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent research, data analysis, written and core communications abilities

  • Detail-oriented professional with ability to distill independently and quickly key questions and next steps;

  • Can-do attitude; ability to own relevant tasks, big or small, and collaborate with wide range of stakeholders

  • Curious with aptitude for learning; able to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;

  • Strong team player with an entrepreneurial predisposition and strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact at senior levels of the Firm;

  • Self-starter with strong project management and follow-through skills;

  • Outstanding quantitative and qualitative skills, including via Excel and PowerPoint.

DESIRED BACKGROUND/EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree; strong academic credentials (Masters Degree is a plus)

  • 4-7+ years post undergraduate experience; management consulting, financial services, or sustainability background is a plus

  • Demonstrated track record of strong impact in organization

  • Superior written, project and oral communication skills

  • Ability to interface successfully and collaboratively with numerous internal stakeholders

  • Experience working with senior management

Compensation:

Expected Annual Base Salary: $130,000 - $160,000

Actual base salary will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to role, function, level, experience, qualifications and geographic location. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
