While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.
Data Science is an integral component of Coinbase's product and decision making process: we work in partnership with Product, Engineering and Design to influence the roadmap and better understand our users. With a deep expertise in experimentation, analytics and advanced modeling, we produce insights which directly move the company's bottom line.
Specifically, we're looking for a Senior Applied Scientist to join our Growth Marketing Team. In this role, you'll take charge of building Coinbase's Marketing Mix Model (MMM) from the ground up and play a key role in shaping how we measure and optimize marketing effectiveness. You'll design and implement the model, analyze spend performance across channels (e.g. Facebook, TikTok, etc.), uncover insights to guide investment decisions, and present recommendations to senior leaders to drive smarter, data-backed marketing strategies.
What you'll be doing:

• Build and own Coinbase's Marketing Mix Model (MMM) from the ground up to measure and optimize marketing spend effectiveness across channels (e.g. Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
• Partner with Marketing, Finance, and Data Engineering to translate business goals into measurable frameworks and actionable insights
• Develop and maintain robust statistical and econometric models that drive budget allocation and ROI optimization
• Conduct deep dives into marketing performance data to uncover drivers of growth and inform strategic decisions
• Contribute to experimentation and causal analysis efforts to validate model accuracy and inform future iterations

What we look for in you:

• BA/BS in a quantitative field (e.g. Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science) with 5+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 3+ years
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining Marketing Mix Models (MMM) or Media Mix Models (MMM)
• Expertise in regression, econometrics, causal inference, or Bayesian modeling
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis, model development, and automation
• Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations
• Experience working with marketing data (media spend, conversions, attribution, campaign data)
• Background in consumer tech or similarly fast-paced, data-rich environments
• Demonstration of our core values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution

Nice-to-have:

• Advanced degree (PhD) in a quantitative field
• Experience with marketing effectiveness or spend optimization modeling

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility + equity eligibility+ benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
Pay Range:
$180,370 - $212,200 USD
