Overview
The Senior Accountant (Client Accounting/Advisory) is a highly skilled accounting professional responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring financial accuracy, and delivering high-quality financial insights. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-client environment and brings advanced expertise in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Desktop (QBD).
This individual operates with a high level of autonomy, serves as a trusted client advisor, and plays a key role in elevating the quality of our accounting deliverables. You’ll partner closely with clients and internal leadership, while helping to create capacity for our Controller team through strong execution and ownership.
Primary Responsibilities
Client Ownership & Advisory
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients across varying industries and complexity
- Build strong client relationships through proactive communication and financial insight
- Identify process improvements and opportunities to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for clients
Technical Accounting Execution
- Perform and review complex reconciliations (bank, credit card, loans, payroll clearing)
- Own full-cycle AP/AR processes, including invoicing, collections, and vendor management
- Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Record and review journal entries and maintain clean, accurate general ledgers
- Troubleshoot discrepancies and ensure audit-ready financials
Systems & Process Optimization
- Set up, optimize, and maintain QBO/QBD files tailored to client needs
- Leverage automation tools and bank feeds to improve efficiency
- Support payroll processing and system integrations where applicable
Close, Compliance & Reporting
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes across client engagements
- Support sales tax tracking, filings, and compliance
- Ensure data accuracy through ongoing review, cleanup, and process discipline
Team Leadership & Development
- Review work prepared by junior team members (Bookkeeper I & II)
- Provide coaching and guidance on best practices and complex transactions
- Contribute to team development and knowledge sharing

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
- 4–6+ years of experience in a multi-client, outsourced accounting, or similar environment
- Advanced proficiency in QBO and QBD
- Strong experience with financial reporting, close processes, and reconciliations
- Experience with payroll, sales tax, and client-facing work
- Comfort working in cloud-based accounting systems and technology-driven environments
