Role SUMMARYSortly, known for its commitment to simplicity and user-friendliness, is looking for a Software Engineer 1 (Android) to join our Mobile Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a user-focused product in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. As an SE1, you will contribute to feature development, learn from senior engineers, and grow your technical skills through hands-on experience with Android technologies. You’ll participate in design discussions, write clean and testable code, and support ongoing improvements to our mobile applications.
What you’ll be doingKey Responsibilities
Feature Development & Support:
- Contribute to mobile feature development under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in design and grooming discussions to gain understanding of implementation requirements.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with support from peers and code reviewers.
- Assist in testing and validating features to ensure quality and functionality.
Learning & Collaboration:
- Learn and apply Android platform best practices and development guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and QA.
- Work with both new and legacy codebases, enhancing existing functionality with support.
- Take initiative in learning modern development tools and practices.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in android development
- Strong foundation in Kotlin and familiarity with Android Studio.
- Understanding of Android SDK components and basic knowledge of AndroidX libraries.
- Exposure to AndroidX.Room or other local data storage tools is a plus.
- Some experience in modern UI frameworks like Jetpack Compose.
- Basic knowledge of version control tools (e.g., Git).
- Eagerness to learn mobile development best practices, including testing and performance monitoring.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- A collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
