- Standardizing the process:
- Work Ready: Define what work ready stories mean. This will be agreed upon between product and technology.
- Work Complete: Define what completed work means. This will be agreed upon between Product and Technology.
- Defining & Setting Sprint Capacity: This needs to be set before each sprint and ongoing based on developer availability and the needs of the development team (there may be a need for some developers to have less sprint capacity based on the need to define architecture, guide/train new resources, work on system issues).
- Define standards on what complete backlog items. This is part of what is considered “Work Ready”. Basically, to ensure that all backlog items have completed descriptions, acceptance criteria, parenting, grouping, etc.
- Build and maintain a collaborative environment between Product & Development to ensure work is fully understood, prioritized (Based on product & technology needs), and executed efficiently.
- Hold all players on the team accountable for their part in the process.
- Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment among team members and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
- Impediment Removal: Identify and help remove obstacles that hinder the team’s progress.
- Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by helping the team to reflect on their performance and implement changes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with product owners and stakeholders to ensure that the team understands the product backlog and priorities.
- Metric Tracking: Monitor and report on team performance metrics to help guide decision-making and improve processes.
- Training: Provide training and support to new team members on Agile methodologies and the Scrum process.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Practitioner of Agile methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), with experience facilitating agile ceremonies in a cloud-native SaaS environment.
- Practical experience with continuous delivery (CD) pipelines, iterative release cycles, and modern DevOps practices to support frequent production deployments.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to remove blockers in fast-paced, iterative SaaS development teams.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills for guiding teams through agile practices and interacting with product, engineering, QA, and DevOps functions.
- Understanding of SaaS metrics (e.g., uptime, error rate, customer impact) and their relevance to backlog prioritization and team goals.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with globally distributed, cross-functional teams across product development, support, and platform engineering.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience working in Agile environments as a Scrum Master.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.
- Has working knowledge and experience in managing/organizing Azure DevOps.
Physical Requirements:
