Company Overview: Abiologics, Inc. is a privately held, early-stage biotechnology company on a mission to make biology better through an innovative therapeutic modality. We are pioneering the development of Synteins™, a transformational class of macromolecular medicines unlocked by novel synthetic and computational technologies. Abiologics is actively seeking exceptional scientists who are passionate about driving therapeutic modality innovation in biotechnology.

Abiologics was founded in Flagship Pioneering’s venture creation engine, where companies such as Moderna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRNA) and Generate Biomedicines were conceived and created. Since Flagship’s founding in 2000, the firm has originated and fostered the development of more than 100 scientific ventures resulting in more than 500 issued patents and more than 50 clinical trials for novel therapeutic agents.

Position Summary:

As a key member of Abiologics’ chemistry team, you’ll play a leading role in developing new methods to analyze and purify our Synteins™ drug candidates. You will work closely with medicinal and peptide chemists to characterize and measure physicochemical properties of our Synteins. You’ll participate in a large machine learning platform initiative aimed at determining optimal physicochemical property parameters for our new drug modality and urgently progressing Synteins toward the clinic

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rapid development of analytical and preparative methods to isolate our Synteins with high purity standard.
  • Measure physicochemical properties such solubility, stability, and concentration with UV spectroscopy and high-resolution mass spectrometry techniques. Characterization of secondary structure with a variety of analytic techniques
  • Integrate, analyze, and report results to guide new compound design in our therapeutic programs.
  • Work closely with our computational scientists to generate properties-based machine learning models for our Synteins optimization.
  • Build additional capabilities to ensure high-throughput purification and measurement of physicochemical properties of Synteins.
  • Develop analytical methods needed during optimization of synthesis or formulation of Synteins.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biochemistry with 0-2 years or B.S or M.S in Chemistry or related field with 5 + years of industry experience in a laboratory setting
  • Excellent in troubleshooting chromatographical (HPLC) and/or mass spectrometry (MS) issues.
  • Experience using Agilent and/or Shimadzu is a plus.
  • Experience with solubility assessment and measurement of compound properties a plus.
  • Capacity to execute tasks independently to achieve company goals on an established timeline.
  • Superb multi-tasking, creativity, adaptability to fast-paced changing environment, and teamwork skills
