Company Overview: Abiologics, Inc. is a privately held, early-stage biotechnology company on a mission to make biology better through an innovative therapeutic modality. We are pioneering the development of SynteinsTM, a transformational class of macromolecular medicines unlocked by novel synthetic and computational technologies. Abiologics is actively seeking exceptional molecular scientists who are passionate about driving therapeutic modality innovation in biotechnology.

Abiologics was founded in Flagship Pioneering’s venture creation engine, where companies such as Moderna Therapeutics (NASDAQ: MRNA) and Generate Biomedicines were conceived and created. Since Flagship’s founding in 2000, the firm has originated and fostered the development of more than 100 scientific ventures resulting in more than 500 issued patents and more than 50 clinical trials for novel therapeutic agents.

Position Summary: We are looking for a highly motivated, broadly skilled and enthusiastic assay development and screening scientist to join our growing Discovery team. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing biophysical, biochemical and cell-based screening assays to drive the Abiologics SynteinTM discovery platform. This dynamic role will collaborate cross-functionally with a diverse design-make-test team and have the opportunity to impact Abiologics’ platform and company growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute biophysical, biochemical and cell-based screening assays to drive discovery programs
  • Ensure rapid generation and accurate reporting of high-quality screening data and communication with Chemistry and Computational colleagues
  • With guidance from manager, conceptualize, design and develop novel assays to advance discovery programs
  • Effectively communicate scientific findings and ideas to a diverse team both informally and at project/company meetings
  • Opportunity to grow into a project lead

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry or related field with minimum 1-2 years industry experience required
  • Experience in biophysical, biochemical and cell-based screening techniques (BLI, SPR, FP, TR-FRET, Alpha, ELISA, reporter assays, flow cytometry)
  • Proficient in mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Experience with lab automation and semi-automated screening workflows highly desirable
  • Cell biology background in oncology or metabolism highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced environment: self-driven, curious, creative, quick learner with a strong ability to drive towards progress
