About the Role...

Valo Health is seeking a Scientist I to join the Compound Management team, supporting the day-to-day operations of compound handling, registration, and distribution across its drug discovery organization. This is a hands-on laboratory role for a detail-oriented, resourceful scientist with strong experience in compound management automation and a continuous improvement mindset. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with IVP, ADME, chemistry, and DEL technology teams to ensure compounds are accurately tracked, prepared, and delivered to support Valo’s scientific functions.

What You’ll Do…

  • Execute compound management workflows including compound registration, weighing, stock solution reformatting, inventory curation, liquid-liquid plate transfers, and archive storage.
  • Partner with IVP, ADME, chemistry, and biology teams to coordinate compound activities and deliver assay-ready plates in support of rapid DMTA cycles and HTS campaigns.
  • Maintain consumable supplies; author and maintain SOPs, protocols, and inventory records to ensure data integrity, accurate audit trails, and operational continuity.
  • Interface with CROs and vendors for external compound inventories, purchasable compound orders, and shipments; support service contract coordination and vendor troubleshooting.
  • Work with chemistry and DEL technology teams to curate and manage the chemical building block inventory, ensuring accurate registration, stock integrity, and alignment with program needs.
  • Design and enable new plating workflows to support IVP and ADME science teams; troubleshoot automation and software platforms and integrate novel workflows as needs evolve.
  • Stay current with industry trends in compound management and liquid handling; propose and build the case for adoption of new technologies and workflow improvements.

What You Bring...

  • BS in a scientific discipline with 8+ years of relevant laboratory experience, including a minimum of 5 years in compound management.
  • Resourceful and highly organized, with a detail-oriented approach to planning and executing at the bench; ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting compound management automation platforms, liquid handling, acoustic dispensation, and periphery devices (tube sorting, 2D barcode scanning).
  • Experience with sample storage systems and integrations with liquid handlers and automation systems.
  • Liquid handling scripting, workflow scheduling, and software programming are strong pluses; experience with Titian Mosaic and Dotmatics LIMS is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with IVP, ADME, and chemistry teams in a collaborative, dynamic environment; strong commitment to inventory control, accurate recordkeeping, and audit readiness.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of identifying efficiencies and contributing to process development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable contributing to scientific discussions and cross-functional planning.
